Mike Says: The Sandcrabs are looking to make the playoffs for their 8th consecutive season. This coming after their 2006 season where they made the playoffs for the first time since 1961. Coach Whitaker is worth every dime they are paying him in Port Lavaca. This years team will have some rebuilding to do but their backfield will be in high gear with QB Boerm, RB Williams and RB Smithwick. Look for them to go 9-1 or 10-0 in the regular season with their game against Calallen for the district title. Once in the playoffs, they have another run to the Regionals.

Chris Says: Port Lavaca Calhoun lost a heartbreaker to Edcouch Elsa in the Are round last year and their 17 returning lettermen won't forget that. Although they are not bringing back a ton, the guys they do have returning are solid. That, combined with a strong Sandcrab tradition should leave them sitting pretty come playoff time. Even if they are tested in the regular season, Coach Whitaker will not let them forget the early exit from the playoffs last season. Expect them to last three to four rounds in the postseason.
