Mike Says: The Bobcats have been and are one of the best teams in all of Class 2A. This years team does not have a lot of starters coming back but the ones that are coming back are either All-District or All-State. Several players will be breaking records this year. QB Travis Quintanilla and K Adolfo Cordero will be highlighted each week in our For The Record section. Look for this years team to go to at least the Quarterfinals again. It will take a run by a team like East Bernard last year to beat them.

Chris Says: Coach Jason Herring has only lost 5 games in 6 years... that is just unbelievable. Yes, District 16-2A is not exactly tough, but Refugio doesn't just win... they destroy! Sure, the Bobcats graduated a lot, but they are still loaded. I was at the East Bernard game when they picked up their only loss last season and they just didn't have an answer for East Bernard's Ty Slanina. Slanina is gone and Coach Herring is not going to let that happen again. More importantly, Travis Quintanilla is a year older and won't get rattled like he did in that game. A lot of people around the state think the dynasty is on a downswing, but these Refugio Bobcats will not be content to have a "good season." They want to return and get another ring... and you know what? It could happen.
