4A Pre-Season Championship Picks
- Mike Says: What a way to start the season off. Our LSG Pre-Season 5A Division II and our LSG Pre-Season 4A Division I picks to win championships. This game will feature two very good quarterbacks with Westlakes Jordan Severt and Cedar Parks Nate Grimm. Last year, Cedar Park did not get rolling until later in the year and their 2nd year head coach Joe Willis has this team going. They will bring a hard hitting defense to the face the Chaparrals. With all of that and with the Timberwolves being at home, it will not be enough. This is the season of the Chaparral. The CHAPS win it 28-27!!
- Chris Says: What a match - a #1 hosting a #2! Sure, the #1 (Cedar Park) is Class 4A and the #2 (Austin Westlake) is Class 5A - but at this level, it doesn't really matter. While I am a big fan of the things happening at Cedar Park, the excitement around Austin Westlake this year is even bigger. BOTH of these teams will be playing in December, but right now, only one can start 1-0. The CHAPARRALS take the victory 23-21!!!
- LSG Intern Zach Says: This one is tough. Both have great quarterbacks, return a lot of starters and are favorites to play for a championship. Unfortunately one has to lose, and it won’t be Westlake. The Chaparrals have that all-time look about them this year, and they are motivated after falling in last year’s semifinal game. I just don’t see them starting 0-1 after that, especially since they are better than the team that beat the Timberwolves 21-7 last season. Chaparrals 24-17.
