Texas high school football coaching and team milestones

Week Four is here and that means more rivalry games and milestones to go over.

For our rivalry games, we have some games where there are lots of surprises with the participating teams. Lets start with Euless Trinity vs. Colleyville Heritage. Euless owns this series winning 6 in a row since 2002. This game will be their district opener. Can you believe that they are both coming into this game with 1-2 records?

In East Texas, we have Gilmer going up against Gladewater. Gilmer owns this series as of late winning 11 in a row since 2002. The overall series is a surprise with Gilmer leading 30-25-2.

A really good Class 1A match-up which usually makes our Games Of The Week will be Goldthwaite vs. Mart. Both are struggling with Mart going 2-2 so far (against top notch competition though) and Goldthwaite coming in with an 0-4 record. Goldthwaite leads this series 4-2 since 1995.

In the "Cool Named Games" category, we have the "Oak Cliff Super Bowl" between Dallas Carter and Dallas Kimball. Carter hold a big series lead winning 8 of the last 9 games since 2004.

For coaching milestones, Pearland's Head Coach Tony Heath will be coaching in his 200th game at Pearland and also all-time this week. Amarillo Head Coach Mel Maxfield will be coaching his 300th all-time game when they take on a tough Stephenville team. Lubbock Coronado Head Coach Kent Jackson will be coaching his 225th all-time game when they take on the Rebels from Midland Lee.

Tatum Head Coach Andy Evans has 2 milestones this week. This will be his 125th game at Tatum and also his 225th all-time game.

For school milestones, Galena Park North Shore will be playing their 550th all-time game in their 21-5A District opener against Channelview. Both teams come in with undefeated 4-0 records so it will be a good one. Falls City will be playing for their 400th all-time win when they take on Three Rivers. These 2 schools have a combined record of 7-1.
