Central Texas:
San Antonio Madison remained unbeaten with a 41-13 win over New Braunfels as senior QB Cody Ennis accounted for five touchdowns. Brennan’s defense held East Central to just 104 total yards (68 on one play) in a 49-21 win. Cibolo Steele’s defense held Kerrville Tivy to just 120 yards and Justin Stockton (Texas Tech commit) scored two TDs in the first four minutes. Mexia ended a 13 game losing streak, upsetting Waco La Vega 37-20. Kaylon Watson rushed for 320 yards and four scores for the Black Cats. Traynham Moore and Tyler Taylor hooked up for three long scoring passes as Waco High beat Killeen Ellison 28-14. McGregor and Troy Allison bested Waco Reicher and Payne Sullins 29-23 in a matchup of two good small school QBs. Shaun Nixon (A&M commit) scored four touchdowns to lead Austin Lake Travis to a 53-16 romp over Round Rock Westwood. Class 3A Manor knocked off Class 4A Leander 32-27. Elgin remained unbeaten as Da’Trean Simmons ran for four touchdowns. Colorado commit Chance Waz forced four turnovers to lead Top Weekly Performances in Texas High School Football 9/16/13 past Vandegrift 49-14. Cedar Park got back on the win track as Nate Grimm threw four touchdown passes as the Knights beat Harker Heights 41-20. Sophomore Brennan Wooten threw for 415 yards and six touchdowns, five to Texas commit Garrrett Gray, as Marble Falls outlasted Burnet 56-51. Derek Kiser threw for 363 yards and five touchdowns in a losing cause for Burnet. Austin Westlake rallied from a 17 point halftime deficit to beat A&M Consolidated 38-32
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Dallas’ big action was the tripleheader Lone Star Classic at Kincade Stadium. Stephenville opened with a 46-32 upset of Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Dillard. Jarrett Stidham threw for 193 yards and three scores and Freshman Kaegun Williams rushed for 109, caught passes for 170 and scored three times. Cedar Hill cruised by Beaumont Ozen 48-0 in the middle game, racking up 508 yards of total offense, while holding Ozen to minus 5 yards rushing for the game. In the nitecap, Desoto surprised Euless Trinity 61-35 with Desmon White completing 21/27 passes for 344 yards and five tds.
Elsewhere, Southlake Carroll whipped Temple 38-7 with Junior QB Ryan Agnew accounting for 385 total yards and four scores. Coppell’s Charles West rushed for 306 yards and four TDs on just 11 carries as the Cowboys thrashed Rockwall 68-20. Top-rated Allen rolled by Richardson 52-7 with Kyler Murray on an average night with “just” 188 yards passing and five touchdowns. Junior Julius Lewis rushed for 238 yards and three scores to lead Mansfield past Mansfield Summit 42-23. Junior JuWann Washington rushed for 215 yards and five touchdowns to lead Kennedale past Wilmer-Hutchins 50-28. Granbury’s Ryan Suitt threw for 360 yards and four scores in a 44-41 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge. Corsicana beat Forney 36-17 as Lamontra Owens rushed for 352 yards and three touchdowns. Dallas Skyline QB Sederrian Copeland accounted for six touchdowns on a 274 yard all- purpose night and the Raiders beat Arlington Bowie 52-28. Dallas Jesuit won the Jesuit Bowl over Houston Strake Jesuit 35-13 with Bo Schneider throwing for 319 yards and 3TDs. Jerrod Heard accounted for 349 yards total offense and four scores as Denton Guyer beat Flower Mound Marcus 35-17. Mesquite Poteet beat Wylie 51-36 with QB Lane Novy throwing for 346 yards and four TDs, while Kody Edwards hauled in seven passes for 205 of those yards and half the scores. TCU commit Foster Sawyer completed 13/17 passes for 273 yards and five tds as Fort Worth All Saints beat Greenhill 56-14. Kent Myers completed 18/25 passes for 286 yards and four scores, while rushing for 122 yards and two more touchdowns in a 59-14 Garland Sachse win over Grapevine. First Baptist beat Fort Worth Temple Christian 69-7 with QB Max Partlo completing 16/21 for 323 yards, seven to Trae Hart for 233 of those yards. The two hooked up on four touchdown passes.
Houston:
Katy rolled by The Woodlands 57-14 as Rodney Anderson rushed for 226 yards and four touchdowns. Atascocita edged Klein 43-40 despite a 306 yard rushing night by Klein’s David Hamm. Troy Brown rushed for 164 yards and two TDs to lead Cypress Springs to a 20-18 upset of Cypress Falls. Reggie Turner had 201 all- purpose yards in a Pasadena Memorial's 35-13 loss to Channelview. Kendrick Hopkins had 183 yards rushing to lead Nederland past Angleton 35-21. Crosby’s three-headed machine of the Walter brothers and Railon Singleton rolled past Barbers Hill 63-26. Aston Walter threw for 320 yards and five touchdowns, with 176 yards and 4 of those TDs going to Singleton. Austin Walter rushed for 169 yards and scored twice. Crosby’s Stedman Bell had 285 yards in total offense and accounted for two scores as Conroe knocked off Aldine 49-23. Tomball Memorial edged Waller 30-28, but Waller’s Tyron Taylor and Eric Wright combined for 349 yards rushing. Baytown Lee beat Spring Woods 61-20 with sophomore QB Javarius Irving passing for 341 yards and 5 touchdowns. Donald Bush caught 7 passes for 166 yards from his brother Ronald and Fort Bend Bush shutout Aldine Eisenhower 37-0. Houston Kincaid beat Houston Christian 42-20 with Junior QB JT Granato passing for 268 yards and five TDs. Episcopal pounded Fort Worth Trinity Valley 47-14 with JR RB Tyreik Gray rushing for 348 yards and five TDs. Pearland Dawson’s Brett Winnigan rushed for 211 yards and scored four times in a 49-13 win over Westbury.
East Texas:
In a huge upset, Nacogdoches beat Lufkin 28-24, ending a 21 year losing streak to the Panthers. Brandon Jones’ 90 yard interception run for touchdowns with five minutes remaining was the game winner. Tyler John Tyler shut out cross town rival Tyler Lee 44-0 to claim the Rose City championship. Junior Geovari McCollister had 229 yards passing, rushed for 97 yards, and accounted for four touchdowns. UTSA commit Blake Bogenschutz threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns as Carthage beat Tyler Chapel Hill 52-32. Texas Tech commit Patrick Mahomes threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns, with Coleman Patterson on the receiving end of 209 yards and three of those scores. West Rusk’s George Anthoney scored 5 TDs on 303 yards rushing ikn a big 55-19 win over Big Sandy. Tanner Barr threw for 291 yards and four scores and Gilmer pounded Class 4A Jacksonville 60-20. Arp junior Marcalas Johnson rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-27 win over Elysian Fields. Winona’s Ke’Aaron Cobb rushed for 221 yards on just five carries, scoring three times as Winona shutout Como-Pickton 62-0. Baylor commit K.D. Cannon caught 9 passes for 271 yards and five scores as Mount Pleasant flew by Terrell 77-34.
West Texas:
Eastland’s Josh Moylan had the most productive game of the weekend, accounting for 10 touchdowns evenly split between rushing and passing as Eastland outscored Grandview 76-64. (this was a Class 2A game, not 6 Man). Moylan threw for 318 yards and rushed for 215. In a shootout between two athletic QBs, Andrews beat Brownfield 55-28. Andrews’ Shane Dolgener threw for 243 yards/3 tds, rushed for 145 yds and 2 TDs, while Brownfield’s Sha’Colby Hill threw for 360 yards and two scores and rushed for 112 yds and two TDs. Ben Arbuckle completed 31/49 passes for 377 yards and 5 touchdowns as Canadian beat Perryton 38-22. Jarek Black had his third straight game over 200 yards, rushing for 208 and three scores to lead Shallowater 63-21. Jeffery Kaegan threw for 292 yards and four scores, rushed for 88 yards and 3 scores to lead Sweetwater past Breckenridge 51-33. Chris Keesee completed 25/33 passes for 415 yards and four scores as Brownwood edged Snyder 46-43. Mickey Scott totaled 434 total yards and accounted for three scores to lead San Angelo past Lubbock Coronado 35-28. Midland Lee edged Abilene Cooper 42-35, despite a stellar performance by Cooper’s QB Lorenzo Joe (Texas commit). Joe completed 20/33 passes for 330 yards and two scores, while rushing for 82 yards and another touchdown.
