13-4A
Just win and you’re in, it’s that simple for two teams at 4-1, three teams at 3-2, and a lonely Sherman team sitting at 2-3 in this highly contested district. The two top teams Denison and Wylie East control their own destiny if they win one of their games in the next two weeks. Others like Sherman need some luck, Sherman would need to win both games and have Wylie and McKinney North lose both of their games. Games that are certain to shake up the standings would be Wylie East at McKinney North and McKinney North at Denison. McKinney North needs one and possibly both wins to keep Wylie out of the playoffs, but if Wylie and McKinney North were to both make the playoffs, which could happen with Lovejoy losing both of their games, they would be division 1. The other two teams would be placed in division 2.
Predictions: Denison (6-1) Lovejoy (5-2) Wylie East (4-3) Wylie (4-3) Sherman (4-3) Royse City (1-6) Greenville (0-7)
12-5A
The early bird catches the worm would be a good way to describe this district as next week is a big week for this district when Mesquite (3-2) and North Mesquite (2-2) look to keep their playoff spots in check as Rockwall (2-2) looks to upset the higher ranked Mesquite and to potentially take their spot in the playoffs. Rockwall-Heath (0-4) looks to play spoiler at home where a loss by North Mesquite or the win against regular Mesquite would put Rockwall ahead of one of those teams for the playoffs. For Rockwall the sooner they win the better as they play Longview (4-0) who is first in the district. However, if North Mesquite were to come up short in week 9 they would have to bounce back against second ranked Mesquite Horn (3-2) who is hoping one of those two teams gets bumped out which would promote them to division 1 in the playoffs
Predictions: Longview (6-0) Mesquite (4-2) North Mesquite (4-2) Mesquite Horn (3-3) Rockwall (2-4) Tyler Lee (1-5) Rockwall-Heath (1-5)
10-5A
Playing for second best? It sure looks like it as Allen (3-0) has dominated each district opponent they’ve played this year and looks to knock McKinney (0-3) out of contention this week. Other games in week 9 are Plano West (1-2) at home against Plano (2-1) who currently holds second place with McKinney Boyd (2-1) who faces Plano East (1-2). If West and East both win we would have a four teams tied for second heading into the final week of the season which showcases West at East, Allen at Plano, and Boyd at McKinney. West at East would be the biggest game as it has the most on the line for both teams.
Predictions: Allen (5-0) McKinney Boyd (4-2) Plano (3-2) Plano West (3-2) Plano East (2-3) McKinney (0-5)
