Mike Says: Usually when the Cavaliers are highlighted in a game of the week, it is an automatic...the Cavaliers will win. This Bowie team though surprised me last week with their win over Westlake. Oh well, I have done it many times in the past so why change now. The CAVALIERS will win 28-21!!
Chris Says:I have seen Austin Bowie QB, Austin Eschenburg play twice this year and he just seems to find a way to get it done. The real stars of the Bulldog team however, is the defense. When they are at the top of their game, they simply shut people down. Now, they haven't faced a team like Austin Lake Travis yet... but that changes this week. Austin Lake Travis has split against teams with a winning record so anything could happen in this one. This will not be a blowout, but the home crowd will come away happy. CAVALIERS take it 28-20!!
LSG Intern Zach Says: 1): Austin Bowie is not here to kiss the ring. Quarterback Austin Eschenburg has been on the money all season making plays with his arm and his legs. But the defense deserves some credit for the Bulldogs’ start as well, holding Westlake’s Jordan Severt and Alex Chavez both in check to score last week’s upset. That said, I see this as an absolute dogfight with the always-talented Cavaliers. This one goes down to the wire, with the upstarts winning on a late field goal. Bulldogs 27-24
LSG Intern William Says: A lot of people seem to overlook this Austin Bowie team, however what you can’t overlook is quarterback Austin Eschenburg (68-109 944 yards 10 TDs) who has led this team to their 5-0 record. Austin Lake Travis has a quarterback of their own Jonathan Caldwell (78-125 1145 yards 14 TDs). This is going to be a high-octane contest with these two quarterbacks, but the edge goes to Austin Bowie. Bulldogs win 53-47.
LSG Writer Scott Says: Austin Bowie hopes to shock CenTex this Friday as they pay a visit to the known commodity known as Lake Travis. Austin Eschenburg leads the way for Bowie, a steady handed signal-caller who leads by example for the Bulldogs. Eschenburg has 944 passing yards and 10 touchdowns this season and has added 306 rushing yards and six scores. Cole Myers has added eight rushing touchdowns to pace 5-0 Bowie. Lake Travis is 3-1 on the season, winning three straight after losing the opener 25-19 to a very good Converse Judson team. Varshaun Nixon, a Texas A&M commit, is worth the price of admission alone. Nixon has rushed for 339 yards and eight touchdowns against stout competition thus far for the Cavaliers. Defensive tackle Zach Davies was an All-State selection after moving to the Austin area from Indiana before his junior year and leads a stingy defense. Lake Travis might have too much for the pesky Bulldogs on this occasion. Lake Travis defends home field, 27-21.
