Game of the Week (Wk 6 2013) – #16 4A Manor Mustangs (5-0) @ #7 4A Elgin Wildcats (5-0)

Elgin leads this all-time series 24-13-1 but Manor has won the last 4 in a row.

at Killeen Ellison (0-5) (W 34-14)
vs Leander (2-4) (W 32-27)
at Bastrop (2-3)* (W 26-23)
vs Georgetown (3-2)* (W 27-19)
Elgin:
at Bryan Rudder (0-6) (W 49-3)
at Kyle Lehman (1-4) (W 52-10)

Mike Says: Elgin really made a statement a few weeks back during one of our games of the week against Georgetown winning 37-0. They have a great running game averaging 357 yards rushing a game. That attack is led by QB Te'Rel & RB Da'trean Simmons. On the defensive side they are led by LB Colin Snell (43 tackles 3 sacks). Manor has done well also but looking at the schedules neither team has really played top notch competition. The combined record of the opponents of these two schools is 17-34. Manor has squeaked by a few while Elgin has been taking care of business with ease. The Wildcats end the Mustangs winning streak over them. The WILDCATS win it 31-21!!
Chris Says: I love stories like the Elgin Wildcats. Quarterback Te'Rel & running back Da'trean Simmons not only share the backfield duties, but they share a house. These brothers are a large part of the Elgin team that is making believers out of people around the state. Manor is a good team, and should finish second in the district, but this combo is just too much for the Mustangs. Manor will give them a game, but in the end Elgin will continue their run. WILDCATS win 34-28!!
LSG Intern Zach Says: #16 4A Manor (5-0) @ #7 4A Elgin (5-0): Manor has been through the gauntlet
lately with close games against Leander, Bastrop and Georgetown. Now this week they are stuck dealing with Elgin, which has made 5-0 look easy. The Wildcats are suffocating on defense, allowing less than a touchdown per game and shutting out a good Georgetown team. And they are not exactly getting into defensive stalemates thanks to the one-two punch of Te’Rel and Tra’Sean Simmons. These two are a lock to rack up 400 yards of offense every week, and will continue to cruise to victory at home. Wildcats 42-10.
LSG Intern William Says: Two top 4A teams square off this week showcasing probably the best brotherly duo in the state. Te’Rel and Da’Trean Simmons. Te’Rel is on his way to another remarkable season with 519 yards and 5 touchdowns passing and 591 yards and 9 touchdowns running. His brother Da’Trean has been just as remarkable running for 900 yards and 14 touchdowns. To counter that rushing attack Manor has quarterback Denzell Feaster who has thrown for 971 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions this year. I doubted Elgin earlier this year, I won’t make that mistake again. Wildcats win 38-27.
LSG Writer Scott Says: Manor remains unbeaten but battle tested having won its last three games by a total of 16 points. Quarterback Denzell Feaster (971 passing yards, 11 TDs, 0 INTs), running back Tyrone Owens (393 yards, 6 TDs), and Datrin Guyton (23 receptions, 565 yards, 8 TDs) lead the way for the Mustangs. The closest anybody has come to Elgin this season was Vista Ridge in a 28-7 decision in Week 2. Elgin also owns a statement road victory at Georgetown, 37-0. The stellar Simmons brothers lead the way for Elgin. Da’Trean Simmons has rushed for 700 yards and 14 touchdowns this season while quarterback Te’Rel has 1,110 total yards and 14 touchdowns. The Simmons brothers will be too tough to tame, Elgin claims a 33-14 victory.
