Mike Says: DeSoto is on a roll this year just destroying teams. Not just mediocre teams either...we are talking about impressive wins over Arlington Martin, Euless Trinity and Cedar Hill. They are led by do everything QB Desmon White. Timberview will be looking for a better showing than they had last year. It will not be as lopsided but it will have the same result. The EAGLES win 42-14!!
Chris Says: Okay, who is brave enough to pick against DeSoto? I could write a long post about why they are the better team, but what is the point? Desmon White is one of the funnest scatbacks I have seen in quite some time... I know, I know - he's listed at quarterback, but this kid can cut. Mansfield Timberview is not a lame team and will again prove to be a solid test for the Eagles, but they have been knocking off great teams all year. The EAGLES take another win 47-30
LSG Intern Zach Says: #26 5A Mansfield Timberview (5-0) @ #3 5A DeSoto (5-0): DeSoto might be the best team in 5A. You can make the case for Allen and Katy, but its tough to argue with the Eagles’ depth and talent across the board. Quarterback Desmon White puts on a show every week, while Bryce English and Nick Orr hold it down for a formidable defense. The Wolves looked good in beating Lewisville Hebron, but they are not among the handful of teams that can handle DeSoto for four quarters. Eagles 42-24.
LSG Intern William Says: Desmond White and this DeSoto team have another tough test against a Mansfield Timberview team that only gives up 144.8 yards per game (62 rush and 82.8 pass). The Timberview defense also average 3.2 turnovers a game and have scored a defensive touchdown in 4 of their 5 games. However, Desmond White (1365 yards 12 TDs) has yet to throw an interception or fumble the ball. The DeSoto offense has only lost two fumbles all year. It’ll be hard for Mansfield Timberview to hang on against DeSoto without any turnovers. Eagles win 42-24.
LSG Writer Scott Says: Timberview has three Division I commits on defense, so it is hardly a surprise that the defense allows just over eight points per game. Edward Paris (LSU), Brandon Simmons (Stanford), and Brandon Garner (North Texas) lead a stingy unit for the Wolves. DeSoto, the best team these eyes have seen this season on a list that includes Allen, Cibolo Steele, and Dallas Skyline, is led by pint-sized magician Desmon White (5-7, 150) at quarterback. The recent North Texas commit has 1,365 yards and 12 TDs through the air this season and has calmly added 585 yards and 8 TDs rushing against the nightmare schedule that DeSoto has disposed of with ease. Chris Lacy (committed to Oklahoma State) and Kevin Thomas are deep threats in the passing game. Texas ’15 verbal Bryce English leads the defense along with TCU commit Nick Orr. DeSoto makes another statement with a 41-7 victory.
