Central Texas:
Elgin edged Manor in a Thursday night battle of top ten teams in Class 4A. Elgin blew a 21 point lead, then scored with 19 seconds left to pull out the victory 48-41. Brothers DaTrean and Te’Rel Simmons conbined for 289 yards rushing and all seven Wildcat touchdowns. Lake Travis ran off 28 unanswered points, with Texas A&M commit Shaun Nixon scoring four touchdowns in a 56-28 win over Akins. Westlake rolled to a 41-0 halftime lead and coasted past Anderson 41-6. Georgetown got four touchdown passes from Ben Bottlinger to edge cross town rival East View 35-28. Plfugerville Hendrickson remained unbeaten, rolling up 665 yards rushing in a 58-37 win over Westwood. Sophomore Taj Maloy rushed for 277 yards and five second half touchdowns, while Oklahoma commit Samaje Perrine had 282 yards rushing and one score for the Hawks. Lee-Anthony Dawson accounted for four touchdowns as Austin LBJ knocked off rival Reagan 35-7. Leander Rouse beat Marble Falls 29-14 with backup QB Wes Geisler rushing for 162 yards and former QB Billy McCrary, thought to be lost for the season with torn ligaments in his thumb, returned as a slot/RB to add 65 yards and one score. Cedar Ridge’s Michael McCann threw for 333 yards and three tds. In a 35-27 upset of Stony Point, Lago Vista knocked off the state’s #1 team in Class 2A with a 27-20 win over Cameron Yoe. Lago Vista rushed for 403 yards and only threw three passes the entire game.
In San Antonio, Smithson Valley smashed San Marcos 55-7, rolling to a 41-0 halftime lead. The unbeaten Rangers lowest margin of victory this season is 19 points. Judson overcame six turnovers to roll up 44 unanswered points in a 47-18 win over rival Wagner. Hunter Rittiman hit the trifecta as Johnson beat Churchill 49-21. Rittiman threw three touchdown passes, rushed for two, and caught a td pass for a sixth touchdown.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Junior QB Chason Virgil returned from the injury list and threw four touchdown passes to lead West Mesquite past North Forney 44-13. Junior Julian Lewis rushed for 172 yards to lead Mansfield past Midlothian 19-7. Cameron Smith rushed for four first half touchdowns and Arlington Lamar beat Sam Houston 49-19. Keller Central’s defense intercepted five passes and forced two fumbles in a 38-20 win over Timber Creek. Ryan Agnw threw for 266 yards, rushed for 120 and accounted for five tds. As Southlak Carroll beat Richland 48-0. Luke Timian caught 9 passes for 173 yards and four scored for the Dragons. Jeremiah Drake threw for 444 yards and five tds to lead Duncanville past Grand Prairie 58-46. Devante Smith caught 11 of Drake’s passes for 156 yards and two scores. Desoto remained unbeaten, beating Mansfield Timberview 55-20 as Desmon White (North Texas commit) totaled 364 yards. Top-ranked Allen crushed Plano East 62-17 with Kyler Murray throwing for 276 and rushing for 57, totaling four tds. Michael Nelson, the top 5A rusher in DFW 5A had 265 yards rushing and five touchdowns in a 41-14 win over North Garland. Kent Myers, the top passer in DFW 5A, completed 16/19 for 341 yards and five tds as Sachse beat Rowlett 57-31. Highland Park beat Mesquite Poteet 41-26 with QB Brooks Burgin throwing for 345, rushing for 89 and accounting for five touchdowns. McKinney North edged Lovjoy 48-45 with Ronald Jones rushing for 325 yards and six touchdowns. Kennedale’s Juwan Washington rushed for 347 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-28 win over Springtown. St. Mark’s outstanding pass combination on John Webb and John Caldwell had big nights in a 55-35 win over ESD. Webb completed 26/34 passes for 398 yards and five tds, while Caldwell hauled in 14 of those passes for 250 yards and two scores.
Houston:
Ft. Bend Elkins beat Dulles 44-21 with Junior Jonathan Giles passing for 314 yards and five tds and Darron Ardoin hauling in 141 of those yards and three of those touchdowns. Foster beat Bay City 47-12 as Marquese Green rushed for 172 yards on only four carries, three of them for TDs. Sophomore Kyle Porter rushed for 203 yards and two scores as Katy shutout Katy Taylor 44-0. Kevin Batiste had 163 yards receiving and four scores on only three catches as the Golden Tornado edged Santa Fe 35-34. RB’s D’Onta Foreman (Texas commit) and Donald Lynch combined for 358 yards rushing as Texas City edged Friendswood 45-37. Tristian Houston rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns to lead North Shore past Port Arthur Memorial 49-20. Kinkaid shutout FW Trinity Valley 42-0 as JT Granato passed for 355 yards and tossed five touchdown passes, two of which went to fellow junior Sam Mays, whose receiving total was 145. Houston Episcopal beat FW Country Day 49-14 with junior RB Tyreik Gray rushing for 198 yards and catching passes for 115 more yards.
West Texas:
Stephenville beat Glen Rose 56-22 with Junior Jarrett Stidham throwing for 236 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 84 yards and another score. Seminole held Jarek Black to just 216 yards and two scores, but Shallowater beat the Mustangs 58-14. Ben Arbuckle threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns as Canadian crushed Sanford-Fritch 77-6. Class A’s #1 team, Stamford pounded Winters 54-12 with Oklahoma State bound James Washington catching four passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns, but also returning two punts to paydirt. Abilene Wylie squeaked by Big Spring 37-35, but Steers QB Tobyn Tannehill threw for 291, rushed for 160 and accounted for four touchdowns. Lubbock Estacadeo beat Levelland 35-14 as Robert Johnson rushed for 249 yards and 4 tds. Midland Lee won a 53-51 shootout over Abilene as Lee QB Caden Coots threw for 351 yards and four scores. Odessa High knocked off Lubbock Coronado 58-35 with CJ Eddison rushing for 270 yards and five TDs, and adding a six touchdown on a 65 yard pass reception.
East Texas:
Carthage rebounded from last week’s loss with a 55-6 whipping of Huntington. QB Blake Boggenschutz threw five touchdown passes. Jaylen Shans had 202 yards rushing and three touchdowns as Tatum beat White Oak 42-21. Andrew Black passed for 318 yards, rushed for 108 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in a 49-14 Chapel Hill victory over Spring Hill. Patrick Mahomes passed for 333 yards and five tds, adding another 101 on the ground and two additional touchdowns in a 63-7 Whitehouse win over Lindale. John Tyler beat Corsicana 51-22 with QB Geovari McCollister passing for 237 yards and rushing for 103.
