Dallas/Fort Worth:
Highland Park took control of District 10-4A, beating West Mesquite 35-14 behind a 220 yard passing, 101 yard rushing effort by Brooks Burgin. Euless Trinity smashed rival LD Bell 55-0, shredding Bell’s defense for 590 total yards. Michael Nelson rushied for 232 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Naaman Forest doubled Lakeview 42-21. Trevon Donnell accounted for 397 yards and seven touchdowns to lead Dallas Lincoln to a 63-7 win over Jefferson. Southlake’s Ryan Agnew was near perfect, completing 18/19 passes for 315 yards and 5 tds, while rushing for 143 and another score to lead the Dragons past Justin NW 63-21. Desmon White (No. Texas commit) threw for 370 yards and four scores to lead Desoto past Midlothian 62-42. Kyler Murray threw for 246, rushed for 146 and accounted for 7 touchdowns as Allen beat Plano West 77-37. DFW’s leading 4A rusher Xavier Turner rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns as Birdville beat Saginaw 46-3. Lovejoy beat Dennison 56-42 as sophomore QB Bowman Sells threw for 240 yards and four tds. Junior Dare Odeyingbo rushed for 204 yards and 3 tds as Cistercian beat OakRidge 45-27.
Houston:
In the battle of unbeaten in 19-5A, Katy outlasted Seven Lakes 17-12. Katy blocked two kicks and got a 43 yard touchdown run from sophomore Kyle Porter late in the third quarter to win their 45th consecutive regular season game. . In a matchup of teams that has won the last four SPC titles between them, Kinkaid’s defense held Episcopal Junior RB Tyreik Gray to just 102 yards to win 20-10.
Sophomore QB Casey Rosellini threw for 349 yards and three scores to lead Cy Falls past Cy Lakes 27-20. Demarcus Felton had 262 yards rushing and two tds for Spring Dekaney in a losing cause (28-21) to Klein Collins. Ft. Bend Dulles RB Remus Bulmer had another big night with 297 yards rushing and 3 scores as the Vikings handled Kempner 45-27. Clear Springs beat Clear Lake 41-21 with QB Zach Cripps passing for 304 yards and four touchdowns. Dickinson beat Clear Brook 37-19 as Krysten Hammon rushed for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Ft. Bend Marshall’s dynamic juniors, RB Davon Crookshank and QB JW Ketchum had big nights in a 45-29 win over Tomball Memorial. RB Crookshank rushed for 333 yards and four tds, while QB Ketchum rushed for 187 yards and three scores. Crosby beat CE King 56-14 as Rice commit Austin Walter rushed for 253 yards and four scores. Justin Hervey rushed for 290 yards and two tds to lead Beaumont Westbrook past Channelview 52-35. EJ Achelus carried 30 times for 272 yards and scored three touchdowns as Morton Ranch outscored Strake Jesuit 51-43. Kalen Johnson completed 16/21 passes for 284 yards and three scores as Pearland beat South Houston 56-12
Central Texas:
Most of the big dogs in Central Texas won easily. Cedar Park won the battle of unbeaten, beating Rouse 39-14 as QB Nate Grimm rushed for 127 yards and three scores. Lake Travis crushed Anderson 62-0 as A&M commit Shaun Nixon rushed for two touchdowns and returned a punt 56 yards to paydirt. Westlake pounded Del Valle 55-14 as SMU commit Jordan Severt passed for 359 yards and three scores. Hendrickson shut out Pflugerville 34-0 with QB Xavier Conley accounting for three touchdowns. 4A state-ranked Elgin shut out Connally 47-0 as Te’Rel Simmons accounted for four first half touchdowns . Manor rebounded with a 66-20 win over East View with Datrin Guyton scoring four times in the first half on two passes, one rush , and a 100 yard kickoff return. Kerrville Tivy upset Alamo Hts 32-28 on Adrian Medran’s touchdown run with 23 seconds remaining, capping a big night for Medran, who rushed for 184 yards and scored four times. Smithson Valley turned back Converse Judson 45-28 to remain unbeaten. Waco Midway knocked off Killeen 58-20 with Ben Hicks passing for 332 yards and three scores while Xavier Hailey rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns.
East Texas:
Whitehouse again won big, beating Jacksonville 70-21. TX Tech commit Patrick Mahomes had 309 yards passing, 123 yards rushing and accounted for four touchdowns. Lufkin beat Bryan 31-19 with junior Ke Ke Coutee (Texas commit) hauling in 163 yards receiving and one touchdown. John Tyler’s junior QB Geovari McCollister had 274 yards passing with four touchdowns and added 114 yards on the ground as the Lions spanked Lindale 49-17. Chapel Hill beat Bullard 56-7 with Andrew Black passing for 100 and rushing for 143 and accounting for four touchdowns. Kilgore overcame four turnovers to beat Gladewater 24-6. Arp ran by Union Grove 47-10 as Junior Marcalas Johnson rushed for 230 yards and scored 6 tds. DeVontay Bell rushed for 207 yards and two tds in a losing cause as Corsicana was edged 48-41 by Nacogdoches.
West Texas:
Abilene won a shootout with Lubbock Coronado 56-29 as both QB’s had big nights. Abilene’s Derek Scott threw for 339 yards and five touchdowns, while Coronado’s Christian Hayes threw for 327 and 5 tds. Midland Lee edged rival Midland High with QB Caden Coots throwing for 265 yards and three scores. The best night in the Panhandle went to Bushland QB, Taylor Cornelius who passed for 480 yards and accounted for six touchdowns evenly split between air and ground. Canadian’s Ben Arbuckle threw for 270 yards and four scores in a 40-12 win over Spearman. Toby Tannehill rushed for 200 yards, passed for 144 and accounte4d for 3 scores as Big Spring beat Snyder 42-14. Stephenville freshman Kaegun Williams rushed for 118 yards and two scores as the Yellow Jackets beat Alvarado 41-7. Shallowaer RB Jarek Black rushed for 266 yards and two tds as the Mustangs beat Lubbock Estacado 37-21. TCU commit Grayson Muelstein threw for 277 yards and four tds to lead Decatur past Krum 41-14.
