Top Weekly Performances in Texas High School Football 10/7/13
Central Texas:
Pflugerville Hendrickson remained unbeaten , beating Round Rock Stony Point 54-24 as Samaje Perrine and Taqzh Maloy rushed for a combine 317 yards. Houston commit Bear Fenimore threw touchdown passes to four different receivers on a 377 yard night as Round Rock Westwood beat Round Rock McNeil 37-21. Pflugerville Hendrickson and Round Rock Westwood meet next week with the district lead on line. Austin Lake Travis dominated unbeaten Austin Bowie, shutting out the Bulldogs 43-0 with A&M commit Shaun Nixon rushing for 202 yards, 153 in the first half and scoring four touchdowns. Cedar Park rolled to a 37-0 first half lead and cruised by Marble Falls 51-34. Senior QB Nate Grimm was nearly perfect, completing 16/18 passes for 277 yards, rushed for 84 and totaled four touchdowns. Alamo Heights outscored Seguin 56-41 as both teams combined for 1088 yards of total offense. Heights scored 33 unanswered points in the middle of the game behind a 211 yard/3 touchdown rushing performance from senior Byron Proctor. State-ranked San Antonio Brennan got their fourth shutout in five games,beating Edison 62-0. San Antonio Madison held San Antonio Roosevelt to just 52 rushing yards and Cody Ennis threw four touchdown passes as the Mavericks shutout the Rough Riders 35-0.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Southlake Carroll spanked Keller Timber Creek 77-6, rolling up 569 total yards. QB Ryan Agnew threw for 285, rushed for 44 yards and totaled four touchdowns. Kelly Cordova passed for 359 yards and totaled four touchdowns as Frisco Centennial doubled up Prosper 40-20. Kent Myers had 385 yards total offense and seven touchdowns as unbeaten Garland Sachse beat Lakeview Centennial 71-56. Sederian Copeland threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns to lead Dallas Skyline past Lake Highlands 49-21. Garland beat Rowlett 42-36 in a four overtime thriller, but Rowlet QB Logan Bonner threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Rice commit Destri White threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns with 9 passes going to Del” Michael High for 171 of those yards and three of those touchdowns. South Oak Cliff shutout Pinkston with Kenneth Arthur throwing five touchdown passes. Wylie East edged cross town rival Wylie 35-28 with QB Garrett McClain throwing for 291 yards—216 of them going to Jared Wyatt. Caddo Mills edged Sunnyvale 41-40 despite Ryan Cottingame completing 28/35 passes for 320 yards and six touchdowns. Fort Worth All Saints beat Arlington Oak Ridge 49-9 with TCU commit Foster Sawyer completing 11/15 for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Ferris’ RB duo of Jay Foster and Javaughn Thurmon combined for 443 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in a 49-29 win over Anna. Baylor commit Jordan Blake completed 13/15 pases for 224 yards and four scores to lead Princeton past Wills Point 56-14.
West Texas:
Most of the top teams had byes this week. Ben Arbuckle threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns to lead Canadian past Pampa 49-26. El Paso Montwood beat El Dorado 24-21 with QB Jacob Aguilar throwing for 337 yards and 2 scores. Midland Christian QB Mason McClendon threw for 362 yards and six touchdowns in a 48-0 shutout of Grace Prep. Anson beat Tahoka 48-18 with QB Jason Garza rushing for 188 yards, passing for 227 yards and accounting for eight touchdowns. Abilene Cooper beat cross town rival Abilene 56-31 with Texas commit Lorenzo Joe rushing for 203 yards, throwing for 83 and accounting for five touchdowns. San Angelo Central beat Midland 63-21 with QB Mickey Scott throwing for 249/rushing for 24 yds, and accounting for five scores.
East Texas:
Most of top teams in East Texas were idle with byes. Kilgore scored 35 points in the second quarter and pulled away from Bullard 47-7 with junior RB Kevin Justice scoring three touchdowns. Palestine retired Adrian Peterson’s jersey and shut out Pittsburg 32-0. Gladewater turned all state DT Daylon Mack loose on offense and he responded with two touchdown run in a 41-10 win over Spring Hill. 3A’s top ranked Gilmer beat Chapel Hill 56-28 with Darrian Lewis rushing for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nacogdoches piled up 521 yards on offense and smacked Longview Pine Tree 45-14. Tyler All Saints ran into Braxton Berry of Garland Christian and lost 48-27. Berry had 412 yards passing, 140 rushing, and seven touchdowns.
Houston:
Cy Woods junior QB Nick Hooper had 334 yards passing and three touchowns in a 57-14 win over Cy Springs. Junior Rems Bulmer rushied for 334 yards and 4 TDs as Fort Bend Dulles beat Fort Bend Clements 47-27. Jarret Hildreth passed for 346 yards and four scores to lead Clear Creek past Clear Falls 45-21. Angleton edged Lamar Consolidated 34-27 with two RBs, Dayshawn Franklin and K’Vonte Jackson combining for 337 yards rushing. Texas City edged Pearland Dawson in Houston’s top 4A game 44-14. Pearland high shutout Pasadena Sam Rayburn 62-0 with junior RB JaColbie Butler rushing for 178 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Sophomore RB Stephen Rowe rushed for 177 yards for Clear Brook, but in a 28-7 loss to Clear Lake. Junior Tyreik Gray rushed for 151yards and three scores as Episcopal routed St. John’s 45-13. Cleveland spanked Splendora 41-7 with soph QB D.D. Jackson rushing for 166 yards and two touchdowns on only four carries.
