2013 Regional Playoff Happenings Friday 11-29-13

Once again, it was a wild day for Texas High School Football. What a great time of the year. Here are just some of what happened on Friday night.

* Pearland beats Houston Lamar and LSG was there. It looked like Lamar was the better team after holding Pearland to 5 total yards through a quarter and a half. Things turned around though when the Oilers got an interception at their own 20 as Lamar was driving and leading at the time 7-0. Lamar QB Darrel Colbert played a great game and was a lot of fun to watch. The Oilers play Cypress Fairbanks next week it what is shaping up to be a defensive struggle.

* #1 Whitehouse loses despite 597 yards passing by QB Patrick Mahomes. Poteet won 65-60!! The game featured 1,279 yards of total offense, 18 touchdowns, 50 first downs and 30 penalties for 246 yards. Poteet (12-1) advances to face the winner Ennis in the Region II final at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium.

* Dallas Highland Park wins big over Mansfield Legacy 48-0. They also dominated in yardage gaining 501 yards to Legacys 90

* Stephenville beats Big Spring 47-36. Jarrett Stidham hits BJ Walker with 21-yard TD pass to put Stephenville up 40-36 with just 4 seconds left in the game. Stephenville then picked off lateral for TD on last play The teams combine for 1,143 yards. Stephenville improves to 14-1 in round 3 playoff games all-time.

* #1 Argyle beat #5 Gilmer in a clash of 3A titans. This was their 4th straight meeting in the playoffs. Gilmer won last year in the Regionals 42-21. Argyle won in the Quarterfinals in 2011 51-35 and 41-14 in the Regionals in 2010.

* White Oak advances to the 4th round for the 1st time since 1970 with a convincing 55-36 victory over #1 Newton.

* Refugio beats Rogers 73-72 in OT....thats right...the score was 73-72.

* Euless Trinity took advantage of turnovers to beat Southlake Carroll in another clash of the titans 42-38.

* Cypress Fairbanks won a defensive battle with a 9-7 win over Galena Park North Shore.
