Rockwall
They Yellow Jackets could never find enough momentum during the regular season to escape from their 5-5 season. However they pulled off some big wins in district specifically a 64-61 win over Mesquite and a 24-20 win over Rockwall-Heath. Add that to North Mesquite loss to Mesquite Horn and the Rockwall Yellow Jackets acquired the last part of the playoffs. Their first round game will be against Garland Naaman Forest another 5-5 team who beat the Yellow Jackets earlier this year 52-42. That was the first game of the year for Rockwall and with a couple of solid wins under their belt it looks to be a great matchup.
Arlington Martin
Arlington Martin at 6-2 was looking toward a district championship in district 3-5A till the hammer came down and they were forced to forfeit three games, appeal pending. The Martin team did not let that affect them as they would go out and when their next game 52-13 over Arlington Sam Houston. Before the final game against district leader, Arlington Bowie Martin was facing to potentially fall out of the playoff hunt. However the appeal was overturned and they three wins were reinstated and Martin again had a shot at the district title once again. Martin won convincingly 47-18, but only acclaimed district runner-up. Their first round game is against Keller Central a 5-5 team that secured the last spot in district 4-5A. Martin has the opportunity and the talent to potentially meet Coppell or Desoto in the Regional round and could pull an upset.
