WEEK NINE
Central Texas:
A&M commit Shaun Nixon rushed for 134 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown with 4:17 to play as Lake Travis overcame a 13 point fourth quarter deficit and beat Westlake 28-27. Hendrickson remained unbeaten, edging McNeil 21-7 as sophomore Taz Maloy rushed for 147 yards and two scores. Cedar Park rolled over Vista Ridge 35-21 with Nate Grimm contributing 265 yards of total offense and three scores. Keith Jerome scored seven touchdowns to lead Marble Falls past Dripping Springs 56-38. Cole Myers ran for four touchdowns as Bowie kept pace with Lake Travis, beating Anderson 35-14. In a Thursday night affair Elgin remained unbeaten in 4A, blasting Bastrop 45-7. QB Ty Summers scored seven touchdowns to lead SA Reagan to a 49-35 win over Churchill . Summers rushed for 288 yards on 27 carries and also passed for 216 yards. Rayjohn Austin-Ramsey broke a Converse Judson school season passing record, moving to2083 yards as Judson smashed NB Canyoun 38-10. Alamo Hts defense recorded four interceptions and a blocked punt for a touchdown in a 31-10 upset of Clemens.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Southlake Carroll kicked off the weekend on Thursday night, rallying from 10 down to beat Fossil Ridge 31-27 on the the strength of three second half interceptions. Elsewhere on Thursday, Corey Avery rushed for 159 yards on just six carrieds, scoring twice as Carter shutuout Pinkston 48-0. Junior Dedrick Scrivens rushed for 209 yards to lead McKinney Boyd past Plano East 28-10. Arlington Seguin beat Mansfield Lake Ridge 51-37 with senior QB Kelton Moore rushing for 218 yards and passing for 177. Logan Bonner completed 21/30 for 290 yards and five scores as Rowlett shut out North Garland 35-0. Desmon White threw for 404 yards and five scores and Desoto crushed Grand Prairie 67-7. Richardson Berkner’s Calvin Jones rushed for 281 yards, threw for 115 and accounted for four touchdowns in a 41-38 squeaker over rival Richardson high. Sachse beat South Garland 41-26 as Kent Myers threw for 370 yards and four tds. Highland Park beat Newman Smith 52-28 with Brooks Burgin throwing for 273 and three tds, and rushing for 115 and another scored. Junior Ronald Jones rushed for 237 yards and three scores as Mckinney North beat Wylie East 42-39. Sanger outscored Bridgeport 45-37. Sanger RB Tre’von Jackson rushed for 250 yards and two tds, while Bridgeport QB Trey Cook threw for 336 and 3 tds. St. Marks rolled over Houston Episcopal 56-21 as John Webb threw for 423 yards and six touchdowns.
Houston:
The Monroe brothers had big nights as FB Bush beat Dulles 42-35. QB Ronald passed for 352 yards and three scores, while rushing for two more, while Donal hauled in 134 yards of those and one of the touchdowns. Crosby humbled Humble 49-9 with Austin Walter aveaging 20 yards/carry with a 267/3 td night. David Hamm rushed for 225 yards and two scores as Klein knocked off Klein Collins 45-28. Atascocity beat Dekaney 45-17 as newly crowned Ford Statewide player of the week Greg Campbell passed for 222 yards , rushed for 150 and accounted for six touchdowns. Tristan Houston rushed for 204 yards and three tds to lead North Shore to a 38-0 shutout of La Porte. Manvel upset Pearland 42-7 as sophomore transfer (from Westbury Christian) D’Eriq King passed for 376, rushed for 145 and accounted for five touchdowns. Sophomore Nicholias Pelrean rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns as Chavez beat Westbury 51-7. Junior Earnest Patterson rushed for 211 yards and four scores to lead Brenham past Huntsville 63-21. Aldine QB Kendarian Carter had 359 yards passing and four tds in a 36-34 lost to Nimitz. Pearland Dawson pounded Galveston Ball 41-7 with junior Brett Winnegan rushing for 207, catching passes for 55 and scoring four times. Junior Patrick Carr rushed for 187 yards and two scores to lead The Woodlands past College Park 31-10. Another top junior, Kendall Sheffield totaled 246 all purpose yards and scored four times to lead FB Marshall past Northbrook 63-0. Katy tuned up for the playoffs, shutting out rival Cinco Ranch 42-0.
East Texas:
Lufkin beat Oak Ridge 42-10 with their junior combination of QB Trey Cumbie and WR Terry Mark having big nights. Cumbie passed for 363 yards and five tds, with 183 and two going to Mark. Gilmer crushed Bullard 62-0 with Kris Boyd rushing for 136 yards on only 8 carries and scoring four times. Lindale outscored Jacksonville 59-55 as junior EB Aaron Jackson rushed for 287 yards. Jacksonville QB Carter McCown passed for 360 yards, rushed for 253 and totaled 7 touchdowns in a losing cause Sophomore Logan Fuller rushed for 189 yards and four scores to lead Athens past Mineola 55-20. . Whitehouse remained unbeaten, beating Corsicana 45-14, but not before Tiger QB Devontay Bell rshed for 184 yards. John Tyler racked up their 23rd consecutive district win , beating Nacogdoches 37-14 in a physical game that featured 8 personal fouls and several ejections. JT and Whitehouse clash next week for the district title.
West Texas:
In a 5A shootout between two of the top QB’s in West Texas, San Angelo Central edged Abilene Cooper 31-28. Angelo QB Mickey Scott had 292 yards of total offense, while Cooper QB Lorenzo Joe had 299. Midland Lee’s Caden Coots broke single game records throwing for 401 yards and five tds, in a 42-21 win over Permian. Odessa upset Midland 35-30 with CJ Eddison rushing for 292 yards and five scores. Tobyn Tannehill totaled 334 yards and five touchdowns to lead Big Spring to a 54-22 win over Greenwood. Quanah Junior Clay Robertson threw for 324 yards and three scores in a 54-0 shutout of Olney. Taylor Cornelius was 12/16 for 219 yards and 5 tds as Bushland whitewashed Dimmit 48-0. Stephenville shutout Hillsboro 63-0 with junior QB Jarrett Stidham completing 9/13 passes for 198 yards, rushing for 62 and accounting for five scores.
