UIL to Release Conference Cutoff Numbers
AUSTIN— The University Interscholastic League will release the conference cutoff numbers for the 2014-2016 reclassification and realignment on Dec. 2 through the UIL website, LoneStarGridiron.com and other electronic platforms.
These numbers will provide the range of enrollment for each of the six conferences, including the divisional cutoffs for football. The 2014-16 alignments will be released on Feb. 3 for football and basketball. District alignments for other activities will be released in the order of their seasons.
In previous years, the UIL conference cutoff numbers were not available until the realignment was released in early February. In an effort to increase transparency and awareness of the reclassification process these numbers are being released in advance of the final alignments.
For the 2014-16 alignment, the UIL will have six conferences. Conference 6A will consist of a minimum of 220 schools and a maximum of 245 schools participating in football. Conferences 2A through 5A will consist of a number of schools so that the enrollment ratio in grades 9-12 is approximately 2.0 between the largest school in the conference and the smallest school in the conference. Six-man football schools will be classified as Conference A, which will consist of all schools with an enrollment of 104.9 and below.
