The Aledo Bearcats won their 5th all-time state championship with a 38-10 victory over the Brenham Cubs in the Class 4A Division II Championship game. This was the Bearcats 6th all-time state championship game as they were the champs in 1998, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and the runner up in 1974. This was Brenhams 3rd all-time championship game. They were the runner ups in 2002 & 2009 also. Aledo beat Brenham in the 2009 Championship game.

The teams traded punts to start off the game. On Aledo's 2nd possession of the game, RB Jess Anders (1,402 yards 8.5 avg 35 TDs on the season) broke off an 85 yard run down to the Brenham 9. The Cubs then made a goal line stand stopping Aledo on 4 downs to take over at their own 1 with 6:10 left in the 1st. After Brenham punted the ball away, Aledo got a 34 yard pass from QB Luke Bishop (71% completions 2,541 yards 34 TDs passing only 2 INTs on the season) to John Watley (32 catches 534 yards 16.7 avg 8 TDs on the season)) and were able to get a 33 yard field goal with 2:03 left. Brenham got the ball back and after a few good runs by RB Earnest Patterson (2,355 yards 7.4 avg 25 TDs on the season) and a 34 yard pass play put the Cubs on the Bearcat 2. The Cubs mis-handled the hand off though and fumbled with Aledo recovering at the 5. That brought an end to the first quarter with Aledo leading 3-0.

Aledo was forced to punt and Brenham uses the good passing by QB Caleb Hill (61% completions 2,307 yards 23 TDs 5 INTs on the season) and good runs by Patterson to get a 22 yard field goal to tie it up a 3 with 6:02 left until halftime. Aledo gets a good return on a short kickoff and take over at their own 47. Bishop took off on a 49 yard run on the first play to the Brenham 4. Patterson was able to make the touchdown saving tackle. Two plays later, the Bearcats were able to punch it in from 2 yards out with a run by Daythan Davis to put Aledo up 10-3 with 4:43 left. After a Brenham punt, Bishop hits RB Ryan Newsome (692 yards 9.1 avg 7 TDs rushing and punt returner 31.7 avg 7 TDs in the season) for a 28 yard touchdown pass with 59 seconds left to take a 17-3 lead. The teams traded punts in the 3rd quarter. Brenham had a chance, when they went for it on 4th & 15 at the Aledo 28 yard line but failed to convert with 2:10 left in the 3rd quarter. Aledo scored on the first play of the 4th quarter on a 38 yard pass play to WR Taco Anderson to take a 24-3 lead with 11:50 left in the game. After a Brenham punt, Aledo's Newsome took their 1st play 59 yards from the wildcat position to take a 31-3 lead with 9:29 remaining. The Cubs were not done though as they used a trick play to get a 70 yards pass from Hill to WR Tre'Vonte Johnson to make the score 31-10 at the 7:55 mark. Aledo responded quickly as Bishop hits Anderson again from 18 yards out to bring the score to 38-10 with 6:42 left. Brenham kept trying but Aledo finally nailed it down when LB Tyson Mauser (7 tackles Fumble recovery, INT) gets an INT at their own 30.
