Aledo ISD Restructures Athletic Department
Aledo ISD is pleased to announce that a restructuring of the athletic department will occur for the 2014 school year. At his request, Coach Tim Buchanan will become the fulltime athletic director so he may focus on the entire athletic program of the District as it continues to grow. Coach Buchanan has served as the Aledo Athletic Director and Head Football Coach since 1993. During his career at Aledo High School, the District has won five state football championships, and Coach Buchanan has earned numerous coaching accolades.

Coach Steve Wood has been reassigned as the interim head football coach for the 2014 season. Coach Wood has been an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Bearcats since 2002. Before coming to Aledo ISD, he served as the defensive coordinator for Mesquite Poteet High School. He has also coached at Boswell, Dobie, and Calhoun High Schools. His successful career of 33 years will continue to be an asset for the Bearcats as we look forward to the upcoming season with great excitement. Wood will begin his duties as the interim head football coach immediately.

Dr. Derek Citty, Aledo ISD Superintendent, stated, “I have the utmost confidence in Coach Wood to lead the Bearcat football program during the 2014 season, and look forward to the success he and the players will bring to the Bearcat Nation this fall. Further, I congratulate Coach Buchanan. He has been a tremendously successful member of the Aledo community for many years, and I look forward to the continued successes we will experience under his direction as the fulltime athletic director.”
