Updated: August 26, 2014
Everyone will be watching this Friday night when A&M Consolidated travels to Copperas Cove for Week 1 of the 2014 football season. It will not be because both of these teams are very good. It will not be because they are such a big rivalry. A&M is 7-4 all-time vs. Copperas Cove. It will be because of what happened in last years game.
Copperas Cove came from behind and took a 41-38 lead with one second left in the contest. Up to that point, it had been a wild end of the game with the 2 schools combining for 38 points in the final 4 minutes of the game. The Bulldawgs had what they thought was a big win over a very good A&M Consolidated team. The kicked off and hit a short squib kick. The Tigers started running around, made a couple of laterals and turned in what was probably the play of the year with a return for a touchdown and a stunning 44-41 victory.
