In association with Elite Scouting Services we have released the Top 100 recruiting prospects. We have broken them down by position for our ongoing series. These are the best recruiting prospects across the Texas high school football world.
Athletes (8)
Louis Brown, Burton, 6’6, 215
The Burton product recently switched his verbal commitment from Baylor to Texas. As a junior, Brown was named the Most Valuable Player of District 13-1A Division II after recording 160 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks. His size and athleticism provide plenty of options to display his talent at the next level.
Morie Evans, Huntsville, 5’11, 205
Evans jumped all over his first FBS offer in January and enters his senior campaign verbally committed to Arizona State. Evans’ speed will make him a likely candidate to play running back in Tempe. Evans rushed for nine touchdowns to earn All-District honors in 2013. Evans is one of three FBS pledges out of Huntsville.
J.W. Ketchum, Houston Lamar, 5’11, 200
After a successful season at quarterback last season for Fort Bend Marshall, Ketchum moves over to Houston Lamar to take over for SMU signee Darrell Colbert. More of a threat on the ground, Ketchum has 2,337 yards and 42 rushing touchdowns in his career and has thrown for 22 touchdowns. Alabama, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas are all pursuing Ketchum.
Blake Lynch, Gilmer, 6’3, 195
Not that Gilmer needed any additional help, but it arrived over the summer when Lynch moved in from Tatum to boost an already impressive roster filled with FBS talent. During an injury-riddled junior campaign, Lynch committed to Baylor over Clemson, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and TCU. Lynch is capable of lining up and occupying numerous different roles during his senior season.
DeAndre McNeal, Mesquite Poteet, 6’2, 225
Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, Texas, and UCLA are all coveting this versatile prospect. McNeal caught 40 passes for 584 yards and 11 touchdowns and added another 409 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. McNeal has Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, and Texas Tech on his impressive short list.
Tony Nicholson, South Grand Prairie, 5’11, 170
Nicholson joins Evans with a verbal commitment to Arizona State, choosing the Sun Devils over the likes of Baylor, Duke, North Carolina, Ole Miss, and Wisconsin. Nicholson, who lined up at quarterback last season, earned Second Team 7-5A All-District honors and totaled 17 touchdowns.
Chad President, Temple, 6’3, 190
Like Lynch, Baylor snapped up President due to his athleticism and nice frame. President suffered an injury and missed a hefty chunk of his junior season, but compiled over 750 total yards and seven touchdowns in just over two games. As a sophomore, President hauled in 34 passes for 786 yards and nine touchdowns, but is absolutely capable of playing quarterback at the next level.
Larry Pryor, Sulphur Springs, 6’0, 200
Name a position, and Pryor has probably played it at some point during his prep career. The Texas A&M verbal was a quarterback as a junior and a very good one, throwing for 2,666 yards and 26 touchdowns while picking up another 1,027 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. Pryor is likely destined for safety in College Station.
