Third Meeting between the schools Manvel leads series 2-0
District play begins this week for Manvel after receiving a bye last week, Dobie dropped their opener to Pearland 49-9.
Coming off solid victories over Westfield and North Shore the Mavericks hope to continue their recent success over Dobie. Offensively the Mavericks are one of the most talented team in the state with Hemphill-Mapps, Haynes, and King, but the question has always been about defense. The Manvel defense has risen to the occasion so far limiting their first to opponents to a combined 27 points. If the defense plays like they are capable the Long horns may be in for a long night.
Dobie will need to play a perfect game and try to use a ball control offense to keep the prolific Manvel offense on the sidelines. Defensively the Longhorns will count on DT Tisby to try to slow down Manvel, a task that is easier said than done.
On Paper this game looks like an easy win for the Mavericks, but the Longhorns played Manvel closer than any other team last year.
