Abilene High @ Northside Warren
Texas High School Football Game Preview
Abilene Eagles 1-0
Northside Warren 1-0
Steve Warren and the Abilene High Eagles go on the road this week to face the Northside Warren Warriors. Both teams are coming off impressive wins to start the season and neither has faced each other in the past.
Abilene’s offense had a balanced attack last week in their 38-17 thrashing of Colleyville Heritage. Warren went with Sophomore quarterback Derek Scott under center for the Eagles. Scott found two reliable targets in Reese Childress and Jeremiah Alonzo and looks to continue building on those connections.
Another Sophomore, running back Abram Smith ran for 132 yards on the Panthers. Abilene’s defense doesn't appear to have missed a beat after losing Texas signee DL Jake McMillon to graduation.
The Eagles’ D-line will be tested this week when they face Northside Warren's running game. The question is 'Will returning starters like Reagan Cooke and Miguel Espinoza be up for the challenge?'
The Warren Warriors, under the only coach the team has ever had, Coach Bryan Dausin, took care of business last Friday beating San Antonio Roosevelt 41-23. The Warriors did exceptional on the ground against Roosevelt. Dual threat quarterback Jeremy Garcia and senior running back Aedric Robinson formed a potent duo on the ground, rushing for a combined 253 yards and 3 TD’s.
They’ll face an interesting challenge this week, as the strength of Abilene’s defense is in their front seven. Warren was efficient, but not great, throwing the ball last week, making the battle in the trenches one to keep an eye on. If Coach Dausin’s bunch on offense doesn’t have the success running the ball like they did last week, expect Jeremy Garcia to search for help from receivers Demonte Butler and Edwin Robinson.
Expect a good game as these two teams attempt to move to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in their all-time matchup. Which Warren will it be? Abilene and Coach Steve Warren or Northside Warren and Coach Bryan Dausin?
