2014 Texas High School Football Week Seven Highlights

West Texas:
Lubbock Monterey beat rival Lubbock Coronado 39-35 as Vincent Johnson rushed for 230 yards and three scores. Wolfforth Frenship edged Tascosa 35-34 with Grant Sandercox rushing for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Lubbock Estacado beat Levelland 53-33 as Jalen Tennison rushed for 225 yards and three TDs. Stephenville’s two headed machine beat Snyder 49-16. QB Jarrett Stidham (TX Tech commit) completed 15/20 for 235 yards,rushed for 92 and four scores, while soph RB Keagun Williams rushed for 135 yards and two scores. Sweetwater beat Greenwood 41-13 with QB Keagan Jeffrey completing 25/32 for 384 yards and four scores and rushing for 47 yards and another touchdown. Plainview outscored Abilene Cooper 68-63 as Trendan Jackson rushed for 184 yards and scored four times.
Central Texas:
San Antonio Warren beat Jay 42-20 as QB Christopher Casias completed 15/18 for 268 yards and five touchdowns. Brackenridge beat McCollum 44-28 with WR Mike Ramirez hauling in 210 yards of receptions and scoring twice. In a battle of unbeaten, Temple roared to a 20 point halftime lead, but had to hold on to beat the Hippos 41-34. Georgetown East View won the battle of Georgtown, edging their cross town rivals. 45-42 in a game that came down to an onside kick. Josh Covey threw for 273 and Romelio Garcia rushed for 155 for the winners. Jamie Hudson put up 352 yards of total offense and threw three touchdown passes to lead Leander Vandegrift to a 35-32 win over Cedar Park. Round Rock got four rushing touchdowns from Josh Webber and a strong defensive effort to dominate Cedar Ridge 49-3. Austin Westlake Sophomore Sam Ehlinger complete 16/20 for 294 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-7 win over Hays Consolidated. Damien Lindley totaled five touchdowns to lead Round Rock Stony Point to a 48-14 win over Round Rock Westwood. Isaiah Villaire rushed for 201 yards as Vista Ridge stayed unbeaten, beating Dripping Springs 31-7. Thorndale’s Jake Miller had 440 yards of total offense in a 42-28 win over rival Thrall.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
On Thursday night Rockwall’s Chris Warren rushed for four touchdowns and 312 yards in a 56-35 win over Garland Sachse. Dallas Skyline cruised past W.T. White 42-0 as K.C. Johnson and Savon Rollinson hooked up on two long touchdowns passes. Kaujual Anderson rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns to lead Dallas Spruce to a 22-8 win over Adamson. Tyreke Daves rushed for 118 yards and three scores on only nine carries to lead Denton Ryan to a 35-21 win over Keller Fossil Ridge. Christian Rodriquez completed 23/34 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns but Denton lost to Wichita Falls Ridge on a failed two point conversion at the end of the game, 43-41.
On Friday night the top game in the state lived up to billing as Southlake Carroll edged Euless Trinity 10-6. Lil”Jordan Humphrey rushed for 98 yards and scored a late go ahead touchdown. Then the Dragon defense held Trinity, with the Trojans running out of time on the Carroll 15 yard line. FW South Hills won big over Western Hills 83-7 with Sophomores Kyran Jackson rushing for 224 yards and six touchdowns and Tracin Wallace throwing for 150 and rushing for 230. Justin Northwest edged rival Nelson 38-36. Jesse Drummer threw for 356 yards for Northwest, while Courtney Miles rushed for 225 yards and four scores for Nelson. Denton Guyer beat Keller Central 56-27 with Shawn Robinson throwing for 189 yards, rushing for 123 and accounting for four touchdowns. Larry Nixon rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns to lead DeSoto to a 41-10 win over South Grand Prairie. Xavier Brown caught 10 passes for 226 yards and four scores, but it wasn’t enough as Duncanville lost to Midlothian 47-42. Frisco Lone Star Sophomore Jason Shelley totaled six touchdowns and 553 yards in a 52-37 win over Frisco Heritage. Shelley completed 16/31 passes for 370 yards and rushed for another 163. So So Jamabo rushed for four first half touchdowns, then was crowned homecoming king at halftime as Plano West beat Lewisville 55-22. Markeith Miller carried 39 times for 342 yards and five touchdowns as Garland outscored Tyler Lee 62-54.
East Texas:
Ennis edged John Tyler 30-27 on a 20 yard field goal by Brandon Martinek with just six seconds remaining, after recovering a JT fumble with just a minute on the clock. Jacksonville outlasted Nacogdoches 85-79 in five overtimes on Daytavian Thackers 13 yard dash to paydirt. Nacogdoches QB Hunter McClellan ran for five touchdowns and passed for two in a losing cause. Dominique Hollie rushed for 179 yards to lead Whitehouse to a 38-35 win over Corsicana. Arp won the Tiger Bowl, beating rival Troup 38-21. Kayce Medlock and Macalos Johnson combined for 268 yards rushing for Arp. Gladewater spotted Atlanta a two touchdown lead, then roared back with 36 unanswered points to beat the Rabbits 36-14. Carthage won a state final rematch with Kilgore 21-7 as Ravodney Hardy rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown. Brookhill beat Gorman 36-20 as Grant Hanks and Seth Brasher hooked up for three touchdown passes.
Houston:
Manvel cruised to an easy 52-7 win over Alvin, leading 49-0 at half, and having eight different players score touchdowns. Jake Blumrick threw for 263 yards and three scores to lead Pearland past Pasadena Rayburn 52-7. Galena Park North Shore got 167 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Texas commit Tristan Houston to beat Deer Park 35-20. LaPorte’s Alvin Upshaw rushed for four touchdowns to off set a spectacular rushing performance from Port Arthur Memorial’s Corey Dauphine and Kameron Martin. LaPorte won 41-35, but Dauphine rushed for 196 yards and Martin for 176. Spring Westfield beat Klein Oak 45-19 as Dillon Sterling-Cole completed 11/15 passes for 209 yards with seven of them going to fellow junior Tyrie Cleveland. FB Marshall beat Santa Fe 41-35 as Davon Crookshank rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown and also returned a punt 44 yards to paydirt. Cy Creek scored four times in the second quarter to beat Friendswood 48-21 in a District 24/6A showdown. Landon Etzel caught two touchdown passes and returned a punt 85 yards for Creek. El Campo got 261 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Kevin Dove in a 36-30 win over Stafford. Xavier Campbell rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns as Bellaire beat Westside 56-28. Braeden West scored five touchdowns, three rushing over 55 yards, caught a touchdown pass, and returned a kickoff for a touchdown to lead Seven Lakes to a 77-33 win over Strake Jesuit. Rakeem Boyd rushed for four touchdowns as part of a 175 yard night as Houston Stratford bead Spring Woods 52-14. Langham Creek beat Cy Woods in a big 17/6A game as Toneil Carter rushed for 224 yards and Trelen Norton and Quartney Davis both reached the century mark in receiving.
On Saturday night Nederland won the coveted Bum Phillips trophy, stopping rival PNG on the four yard line as time expired to claim a 35-28 victory. Aldine Eisenhower crushed Northbrook 77-0 with Juwan Robinson rushing for 150 yards and three scores and Robert Brown rushing for 161 yards and three more touchdowns. Kyle Porter and Rodney Anderson each scored three touchdowns and Anderson rushed for 145 yards as Katy shut out Morton Ranch 52-0. Cy Fair edged Cy Falls 17-9 as Jacorey Allen rushed for 210 yards and scored two second half touchdowns. Dobie upset Pearland Dawson 36-29 as Rashaad Randall carried 30 times for 155 yards.
