2014 Texas High School Football Week Seven Highlights

West Texas:
In an old and storied rivalry, Stephenville beat Brownwood 40-21. Jackets QB Jarrett Stidham (TX Tech commit) completed 20/25 for 378 yards and rushed for 84,. Wolfforth Frenship knocked off Lubbock Monterey 63-28 as RB Grant Sandercox carried 19 times for 264 yards and six touchdowns. San Angelo Central stopped Abilene’s two point try and escaped with a 21-20 win. Tobyn Tannehill turned in his usual big performance for Big Spring, rushing for 201, passing for 146, and guiding the Steers to a 49-6 win over Snyder. Crosbyton shutout Quanah 35-0 as Nathan Childers rushed for 214 yards and five touchdowns. Amarillo remained unbeaten at 7-0 with a convincing 56-10 win over Lubbock Coronado. Spencer Simpson rushed for 205 yards and four scores for the Sandies. Da’Madrick Moore rushed for 11 yards and two scores as Littlefield beat Childress 20-12. Abilene Cooper beat Lubbock High 24-6 in a rain-soaked game that was called at halftime because of lightning. Idalou pounded Amarillo Highland Park 52-7 as Brandt Schilling turned in one of the top all- around performances in the state. Schilling rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 43 yards to paydirt.
Central Texas:
Vista Ridge outlasted Vandegrift 56-52 in overtime as QB Matt Snow threw for four touchdowns, ran for two and accounted for 416 yards of offense. Vandegrift QB Jamie Hudson threw for 377 yards , rushed for 100 in a game where both teams combined for over 1300 total yards. Iowa State bound Dominic Deliro threw for a career high 346 yards as Austin Lake Travis bombed Anderson 50-17. Travis Malesky threw for 234 yards and two TDs, completing 13 in a row as Cedar Ridge moved ahead of the pack in District 13-6A with a 34-10 win over Pflugerville. Austin Westlake rushed for a season high 294 yards and Mack Kelley scored on a punt return for the second time this season in a 70-28 win over Akins. Round Rock Stony Point upset Pflugerville Hendrickson 38-35, while Cedar Park beat Leander 41-12. Dakota Cahill tallied five tds and rushed for 241 yards as Georgtown beat Marble Falls 62-35. Temple steamrolled Connally for 572 yards on the ground as part of a 763 yard night in a 63-7 victory. Kyle Snell’s one yard sneak in overtime was the difference in Elgin’s 23-17 win over Manor in a game where Manor fumbled eight times. Unbeaten La Grange shutout Smithville 49-0 as sophomore J.K. Dobbins rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries. 2A’s #1 team Refugio edged #7 Shiner 34-28 in overtime in the top clash Class 2A. 4A’s #1 team Navasota rolled Houston Sterling 87-12 as Jebrell Lipscomb returned the opening kickoff 100 yards. Derion Randle ran for three touchdowns for the Rattlers and Tren’Davion Dickson caught four td passes from Shelton Eppler, but the busiest guy in the state was probably Navasota kicker Michael Martinez. Martinez booted 12 extra points, a field goal on the last play of the first half, and kicked off 13 times. Schertz Clemens got 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Shannon Warren in a 28-21 win over New Braunfels Canyon. LG Williams completed 12/18 passes for 173 yards and three TDs as Cibolo Steele beat Wagner 31-7. Christian Mallard rushed for 327 yards and four scores as San Antonio Taft beat Jay 55-12. Floresville beat San Marcos 42-35 as Floresville QB Koby Wilkerson passed for 133 yads , rushed for 292 yards and accounted for six touchdowns. Kerrville Tivy’s Cade Dyal accounted for nine touchdowns, completing 22/32 passes for 404 yards and seven scores , while rushing for 14 yards and the other two,. Boerne beat Taylor 35-21 as Tennessee commit Quinton Dormady threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns, while his favorite receiver David Snelling hauled in 14 of those passes for 228 yards and four of the touchdowns.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
With the Texas state fair at midpoint, many schools played on Thursday night. Argyle won a shootout with Carrollton Ranchview 72-42 in a game that featured a combined 1233 yards of total offense. Arizona State commit Nic Ralston rushed for 305 yards for Argyle, while Keidrien Wadley rushed for 290 yards and Davian Carter ran for 202 for Ranchview. Ja”Ron Wilson ran for 123 yards and two scores as Euless Trinity piled up 26 first downs and 546 yards of offense to beat rival LD Bell 48-3. Skyline shutout Irving Nimitz 56-0 as KC Johnson passed for 182 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. Kyle Sadler threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns as Frisco Heritage racked up 552 yards in beating Independence 59-34. Mesquite Horn snapped Highland Park’s 36 game district -winning streak, beating the Scotties 42-27. Ft. Worth South Hills rolled up Trimble Tech 62-6 with sophomore twins Tracin and Tylan Wallace have big nights. QB Tracin threw for 221 and five touchdowns and rushed for 64 yards, while WR Tylan had three catches for 86 yards, all touchdowns, and rushed once for 84 yards and scored. Timberview beat Lake Ridge 56-14 as QB Devin Williams threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Denton Guyer whipped Fossil Ridge 43-3 as soph QB Shawn Robinson threw for five touchdowns and rushed for one. Desoto beat Mansfield 49-21 as QB Jaylin Nelson threw for 329 yards, rushed for 82 and accounted for 411 yards. Denton QB Christian Rodriquez completed 28/38 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-14 win over Brewer. Arlington Lamar crushed Paschal 76-10 as junior QB Shane Buechele was near perfect, completing 14/16 for 164 yards and three scores. Juwann Washington (San Diego State commit) rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns as Kennedale beat Springtown 58-10. Junior Lil’Jordan Humphrey rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns to lead Southlake Carroll to a 38-0 shutout of Richland. WR Demarkus Lodge threw a pass for touchdown, rushed for a touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes and USC commit Aca’Cedric Ware rushed for 205 yards to lead Cedar Hill to a 45-31 win over Duncanville. In another strong kicking performance Boswell's Alex Del Valle kicked a field goal in every quarter in a 33-8 win over arch rival Saginaw. So So Jamabo ran wild over Marcus in a 54-32 Plano West victory. Jamabo rushed for 322 yards and four touchdowns. Taylor Martin rushed for 338 yards and six touchdowns, with four coming over 50 yards, as Ft. Worth Dunbar beat Grapevine 60-40.
East Texas:
In a clash of top 10 5A teams, Luis Duran booted a 39 yard field goal with just 7 seconds remaining to lift #5 John Tyler to a 25-24 win over #10 Lufkin. Lufkin’s coaches “iced” Duran twice prior to the kick. He also had a 42 yarder in the third quarter. Gilmer shutout Melissa 63-0 as Kris Boyd rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Van edged Athens 35-32. Athen’s RB Logan Fuller rushed for 236 yards to break the school’s career rushing mark (2756), but then Van reeled off 21 unanswered points. Gladewater scored 44 unanswered points and Justice Centers rushed for three touchdowns in a 52-8 win over Tatum. #9 Waskom knocked off previously unbeaten Arp 34-24, spotting the Tigers a two touchdown lead, before roaring back on the back of a 153 yard rushing performance by Kevin Johnson. Tyler Lee rolled up 509 yards of total offense, beating Lakeview Centennial 41-21. 3A’s #8 rated Malakoff remained unbeaten with a 47-28 win over Palestine Westwood as Marcus Dowell rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns. Ennis beat Whitehouse 29-14 , pitching a shutout in the second half. Troup beat Frankston 64-34 as Marquis Davis and D’Luis both rushed over 200 yards, but the defensive gem was turned in by Troup’s Ben Martin. Martin recovered an onside kick, returned a block extra point for two points, intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble that set up another score.
Houston:
Angleton spotted Rosenberg Terry a score lead, then rallied behind a staunt defense , holding the Rangers to just six first downs in the final quarter in a 27-19 win. Jayden Woodson rushed for 196 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Clear Creek to a 58-3 whipping of Brazoswood. Cy Creek edged Jersey Village 28-24 as Luke Allen threw for 219 yards and rushed for 80. Pearland rolled up an even 500 yards in a 66-20 win over Alvin. Manvel beat Pearland Dawson 62-35 as D’Eriq King threw four touchdown passes, Gary Haynes hauled in six passes for 161 yards and and UCLA bound Will Lockett had two pick sixes. George Ranch spotted Foster two scores in the first four minutes of the game, then rolled to a 41-17 win over the Falcons. Fort Bend Ridgepoint emptied the bench early, with nine different rushers gaining over 30 yards in a 55-0 shutout of Santa Fe. Spring Westfield beat Klein Collins 28-17 as Dillon Sterling-Cole threw for 165 yards and two TDs, while rushing for another. Friendswood shutout Clear Springs 17-0 as Sam Longbotham rushed for 154 yards. Lamar beat Bellaire for the 31st consecutive season as QB JW Ketchum rushed for 261 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. Channelview’s Jalen Hurts threw for 362 yards, but needed a last second Hail Mary to edge Galena Park North Shore 49-48. Hurt directed three scoring drives of over 80 yards. JT Granato (Rice commit) threw four touchdown passes as Houston Kinkaid beat Houston Christian 39-21. Katy ran only one offensive play in the first quarter, but it was a 79 yard touchdown run by Rodney Anderson (Oklahoma commit) in a 35-10 win over Seven Lakes. The Tigers took the benefit of two defensive scores in the first stanza to fuel a 21-0 getaway and coast to victory.
