2014 Texas High School Football Bi-District Playoff Highlights

Central Texas:
Austin Lake Travis scored five touchdowns in the third quarter and Dominic DeLiro threw four touchdown passes as the Cavaliers smashed Leander Rouse 54-7. Cedar Park held Austin Reagan to less than 100 yard total offense in a 68-0 whitewashing. Vandegrift’s Travis Brannan rushed for 267 yards, going over the 2000 yard mark for the season as the Vipers knocked out Austin McCallum 63-42. JK Dobbins rushed for four touchdowns and La Grange shutout Columbus 35-0. Cibilo Steele crushed SA MacArthur 70-21 with Bryson Denley rushing for 189 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Parsa Kosari kicked three field goals including a 46 yarder with 2:20 remaining to power Round Rock past Austin Westlake 16-14. Apollo Hester scored on two long pass receptions and Georgetown East View shut out Bastrop 31-0. Austin Bowie blew a 26 point halftime lead, but hung on to oust Cedar Ridge 33-21. Carrington Kearney and Tazh Maloy both rushed for over 120 yards to lead Pflugerville Hendrickson past Austin High 56-14. Tyler Herrick ran for 144 yards and passed for 215 and scored on a five yard run with 12 seconds to lead Hutto to a 56-52 shootout over College Station. Waco Midway scored 41 points in the first quarter and rolled over Tyler Lee 76-47. Da’Shawn Key returned from the injury list to pass for 254 and rush for 67 to leade SA Brennan to a 29-0 win over Corpus Christi King. Jaylon Dukes rushed for 147 yards and four touchdowns to lead SA Brandeis to a 63-14 win over CC Carroll. Dalton Banks threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two more to lead Alamo Heights to a 48-17 win over Harlandale. Cody Brewer threw for 270 yards and five tds, while rushing for 57 yards and another to lead CC Flour Bluff past SA Southside 42-21. Boerne Champion beat SA Edison 57-14 as Alex Flores rushed for 199 yards and Travis Pospisil gained 201 yards. Zae Giles rushed for two touchdowns as Austin LBJ upset Vista Ridge 26-21. Belton’s Shane Stafford passed for 336 yards and four scores in a 50-27 upset over Garland.
Houston:
Houston Scarborough, which made the playoffs with an 0-10 record (because there were only four teams in their 4A district) was eliminated by West Orange Stark 64-0. Stark jumped out to a 35-0 first quarter lead and running time was instituted at the start of the second quarter. 4A’s top ranked team, Navasota beat Needville 55-15 as Tren’Davion Dickson caught four long touchdown passes totaling 278 yards. Workhorse Trayvon Williams carried 36 times for 375 yards as C.E. King continued their successful season with a 55-23 win over Beaumont Central. Angleton and Texas City barely totaled over 500 combined yards, but Angleton scored almost all the points, 33-7. Manvel beat Beaumont Westbrook 45-22 as D’Eriq King threw for 243 yards and had three receivers all over 65. Pearland Dawson had three players rush for over 100 yards in a 35-28 win over LaPorte. Houston Memorial played strong defense, holding Langham Creek’s Toneil Carter to just 77 rushing yards and scored all their points in the first quarter to be the Lobos 21-14. Pearland’s Jacob Whitehead rushed for 106 and passed for 124 to lead the Oilers past Deer Park 41-12. Klein Oak got two fumble recoveries for touchdowns and a pick six to upset The Woodlands 38-20. Friendswood scored twice in the final nine minutes to force overtime, then overcame Hightower in OT 25-29. Lamar survived a shootout with Seven Lakes 38-31 as Holton Hill intercepted two passes in the first half and returned a punt 89 yards in the second, while JW Ketchum rushed for 254 yards. Katy pasted Westside 73-7, pulling starters early. Kingwood Park edged Nederland 31-24 as Jaylon Henderson passed for 141, rushed for 96 and totaled three touchdowns. Xavier Jones rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead Spring to a 48-26 win over Atascocita. Jonathan Lugo rushed for 184 yards and scored three times as Cinco Ranch ousted Bellaire 56-38. In an upset George Ranch knocked out state-ranked Fort Bend Elkins 35-20 with Timon Nolan rushing for 172 yards and scoring three long touchdowns. Ridgepoint overcame four turnovers and Remus Bulmer rushed for 211 yards to beat Richmond Foster 27-18.
East Texas:
DT Daylon Mack (TX A&M commit) record seven tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble and scored three two point conversions as Gladewater beat Nevada Community 66-14. 4A’s #7 team Van was a victim of committing six turnovers in a 30-23 upset loss to Paris. In another 4A matchup Jasper held Kilgore to a minus six yards rushing in the first half and scored a 34-6 win over the Bulldogs. Tyler John Tyler scored 34 consecutive third quarter points and rallied to beat Texarkana 58-23. Lions QB Geovari McCollister passed for a season high 309 yards. McLane Carter threw for 220 yard (197 before half) and three touchdowns as Gilmer dominated Pleasant Grove 50-7. Longview erased a 28 point deficit to edge Lufkin 43-42. Dezmond Chumley led the Lobos with 305 passing yards while Baylor commit JaMychal Hasty returned from the injury list to total 121 yards in just his second game of the season. Marcalas Johnson rushed for 212 yards to led Arp to a 44-0 whitewash of Hooks. Marshall and Nacogdoches combined for 1151 yards with Marshall coming out on top 63-42. Carlisle beat Groveton 30-13 as Collin Gray rushed for 248 yards. Chaston Brooks had over 200 yards, scored two touchdowns,threw for one, and scored on a two-pointer to lead Tatum past Bullard 49-15
Dallas/Fort Worth:
SoSo Jamabo scored four first half touchdowns and Mark Cooks intercepted two first half passes, including a 100 yard TD return as Plano West knocked out Keller 66-41. Khalil Banks rushed for 252 yards and three touchdonws as The Colony beat Lucas Lovejoy 24-13. Nathan Elliott threw seven first half touchdown passes to lead Celina past Dallas Madison 67-2. Larry Nixon rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns as DeSoto eliminated Coppell 51-35. The Eagles also got star QB Tristen Wallace back off the injury list and Wallace rushed for 183 yards and three scores. Aledo picked off four passes and returned three for TD’s in a 69-0 thrashing of Trimble Tech. Southlake Carroll knocked out Mansfield 38-31. Ryan Agnew threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns for the Dragons. Mansfield Lake Ridge beat Dallas Kimball 42-17 as Jett Duffey totaled 301 yards and Duke Carter rushed for 168 and two scores. McKinney Boyd beat Fossil Ridge 42-23 as Dedrick Scrivens rushed for 220 yards and four tds. In a battle of two of the top RB’s in DFW 5A, Denton edged Birdville 40-33. Xavier Scott rushed for 221 yards and two scores for Denton, while Isaiah Duarte rushed for 214 yards and four tds for Birdville. Kennedale’s Juwann Washington (San Diego State commit) rushed for 320 yards and seven touchdowns in a 62-20 win over Wilmer Hutchins. Cedar Hill beat Colleyville Heritage 50-26 as Denvre Daniels rushed for 138 yards and Aca”Cedric Ware rushed for 136, the two combining for four touchdowns. Denton Guyer knocked out Plano 59-28 as sophomore QB Shawn Robinson passed for 240 yards, rushed for 189 and totaled four touchdowns. Rockwall rolled over Copperas Cove 70-42 as QB Will Reed returned from a two week absence via injury to throw for 358 yards and four scores. Three of those TD passes went to Xavier Castille who had a 13 catch/211 yard night. RB Chris Warren rushed for 164 yards but left in the third quarter with a sprained ankle. Allen stretched its winning streak to 38, beating Keller Central 59-21 as Kyler Murray threw for 405 yards and six touchdowns. In TAPPS playoff action, Nashon Ellerbe of TCA-Addison racked up 409 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns in a 70-35 win over Austin ST. Michaels. In another Tapps game Ryan Cash totaled 425 yards and five touchdown passes to lead Prestonwood past SA Christian 51-7
West Texas:
TJ Vasher caught three touchdown passes in the first half to lead Wichita Falls Rider to a 35-21 win over Grapevine. Amarillo’s Anthony Geiger rushed for 208 yards and three TDs to lead the Sandies past El Paso El Dorado 41-27. Grant Sandercox rushed for 224 yards and three scores to lead Wolfforth Frenship past El Paso Eastwood 52-21. Abilene Wylie shutout Wichita Falls Hirschi 44-0 as Trey Kleffner rushed for 116 yards and three scores. Sweetwater beat Perryton 13 as Mustang QB Keagan Jeffrey threw for 209 yards and three tds, while T.C. Huitt rushed for 131 yards and two scores. Nicko Jasso rushed for 237 yards and three tds to lead Monahans past Bushland 54-39. Cambry Gilbert rushed for 197 yards and four TDs to lead Post past Grape Creek 62-21. Brandon Bailey rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns to lead Odessa Permian past Arlington Sam Houston 31-7. San Angelo Central survived a shootout with Arlington Bowie, winning 55-52 as Braden Hicks passed for 290 yards and rushed for 180, totaling eight touchdowns. Abilene ousted Arlington Lamar 31-13 , holding Lamar QB Shane Buechele to just 175 passing yards on the night. Canyon Randall knocked out Abilene Cooper 34-27 as Brett Taff threw for 162 and rushed for 109. Kolton Ehlers completed 11/13 passes for 207 yards and rushed for 154, totaling four touchdowns to lead Lubbock Cooper to a 45-14 win over Hereford. Stephenville survived Decatur 66-64, playing without injured start QB Jarrett Stidham. Sophomore Kaegun Williams rushed for 286 yards and four touchdowns, caught three touchdown passes and threw the winning two point conversion pass. Jase Hammack threw for 364 yards and five touchdowns and Andrews ousted Borger 61-20.
