2014 Texas High School Football Week Ten Highlights

Central Texas:
Justin Miller of Austin Crockett became the all -time career rusher in Austin ISD in a 51-28 loss to Bastrop. Miller carried 18 times for 189 yards to push his career totals to 4103 in a three year career with one game still to play. Beau Kalbacher passed for 382 yards and five touchdowns in Austin High’s 63-56 shootout over Kyle Lehman. Junior Stephen Rioux grabbed three interceptions and returned two of them to paydirt as Austin Westlake crushed Austin Del Valle 54-0. Billy Ray McCrary accounted for four touchdowns and 273 yards as Leander Rouse knocked off Round Rock Stony Point 27-14. Dominic DeLiro (Iowa State commit) threw four touchdown passes as Lake Travis outclassed Austin Bowie 64-7 in what amounted to the District 14-6A championship. Thomas Hutchings rushed for four touchdowns, including three in the fourth quarter and Cedar Park rallied to beat Georgetown East View 48-31. Tazh Maloy rushed for four touchdowns to lead Pflugerville Hendrickson past Cedar Ridge 40-23. Mulbah Car rushed for 318 yards and four scores to lead Austin Reagan past Cedar Creek 42-26. Junior Tyler Herrick passed for four touchdowns and rushed for two as Hutto beat Waco University 54-22. In San Antonio Brennan remained unbeaten, clubbing Stevens 55-14. Brennan lost star QB Da’Shawn Key with an ankle injury but RB Devante Warren stepped up , rushing for 109 yards and two scores. Brandeis also remained unbeaten, beating Clark 48-31. Brandeis raced to a 32 point halftime lead, pulled their starters, then had to reinsert them as Clark rallied to cut the lead to just two touchdowns.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Iowa State bound Devine Ozigbo rushed for 223 yards and three scores and Brett Cox threw his third touchdown pass with just 16 seconds remaining as Garland Sachse beat Lakeview 34-29. Sophomore Chris Robinson connected with six different receivers for 280 yards and five touchdowns to lead Mesquite Horn to a 55-14 win over Richardson Pearce. Robinson now has 31 TD passes for the season. Another sophomore QB named Robinson, this one Shawn of Denton Guyer, passed for 329 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for another as Guyer beat Keller Timber Creek 58-21. Darian Hammonds rushed for 103 yds, caught six passes for 121 and totaled three touchdowns to lead Arlington Seguin to a 31-28 upset of Lancaster. Tyler Tutt rushed for 373 yards and three scores, but Keller fell to rival Fossil Ridge 28-24. Arlington Lamar spanked Weatherford 68-14 with QB Shane Buechele completing 25/28 passes for 465 yards and six touchdowns. Buechele also rushed for 43 yards and one more score. Justin Northwest upset Denton Ryan 62-34 as Jesse Drumer completed 22/30 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns. Southlake Carroll shutout Haltom 62-0 with QB Ryan completing 13/17 for 229 yads and three touchdowns. Daegan Haehn completed 20/24 for 352 yards and seven touchdowns as Lake Dallas beat Fort Worth Poly 59-35. In a huge upset, Mansfield upended Cedar Hill 49-34 as Kennedy Brooks rushed 30 times for 320 yards and four touchdowns. DeSoto beat Midlothian 41-7 as soph QB Jaylin Nelson rushed for 92 and passed for 281. Aledo shutout Granbury 59-0 as Luke Bishop threw for 250 yards and rushed for 104, totaling four touchdowns. Rockwall’s Chris Warren rushed for 471 yards and scored six touchdowns as the Jackets went on the road to beat Tyler Lee 61-54.
East Texas:
Gilmer recorded its highest point total since the 1930’s , smashing Nevada Community 85-14. The Buckeyes scored on half of their first half offensive plays, with McLane Carter throwing for 270 yards and Blake Lynch rushing for 133. Athens beat Crandall 62-22 as Travon Fuller rushed for 120 yards on just three carries. Arp beat Elysian Fields 55-27 as Marcalas Johnson rushed for 196 yards and three scores, while soph QB Kayce Medlock threw for 221 yards, passed for 128 and accounted for six touchdowns. Donta Thompson hauled in five passes for 18 yards and two scores as Ennis nailed Lindale 54-13. John Tyler crushed Jacksonville 62-7 as LB Tony Johnson had two interceptions and a 52 yard fumble recovery for touchdown—all in the first half.
Houston:
Kinkaid edged Fort Worth All Saints in the semi-final of the SPC playoffs 41-32 as Rice commit JT Granato completed 27/37 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns. Manvel crushed Pasadena Memorial 70-0, totaling 608 yards and recording two defensive touchdowns. Ridge Point held Willowridge to just two first downs and a negative 19 yards rushing in a 48-0 shutout. George Ranch averaged 8 yards per rush, and held Lamar Consolidated to only five first downs in a 34-0 shutout. Katy crushed Tompkins 65-0 as Rodney Anderson and Kyle Porter combined for seven touchdowns. Galena Park North Shore edged La Porte 19-18 on an 83 yard scoring pass from Maciah Long to Darius Mouton with just 1:44 remaining. Toneil Carter rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns to lead Langham Creek past Cy Springs 44-28. Jersey Village edged Cy Woods 44-38 as Deshun Qualls hrew for 314 yards, rushed for 71 and totaled five touchdowns. LaMarquis Jefferson rushed for four touchdowns and Navasota shutout Wheatley 56-0. Jasper got three long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to upset Huffman Hargrave 41-24. Khalif Smith had two rushing touchdown and one reception to lead Fort Bend Elkins to a 45-0 shutout of bush. Kingwood Park upset CE King 31-28 as Jaylon Henderson threw for 272 yards , rushed for 91 and scored three times. Cy Falls edged Cy Creek 57-56 in overtime as Casey Rosellini threw seven touchdown passes on a 394 yard night. Dickinson clinched District 24-5A with a 42-20 win over Clear Creek and Jaiden Woodard rushed for 131 yards and Jordan Myers rushed for 104.
West Texas:
Wolfforth Frenship beat Lubbock Coronado 61-20 as Grant Sandercox rushed for 123 yardds and had a 100 yard kickoff return. Canyon beat Caprock 42-7 with Cade McCallie passing for 171, rushing for 93 and totaling five touchdowns. Derek Scott passed for 217 yards, rushed for 182 to lead Abilene past Midland High 31-24. Oscar Garcia rushed for 163 yards and three scores and Canyon Randall beat Palo Duro 51-22. Spencer Simpson rushed for 128 yards and two TDs and Amarillo doubled up Tascosa 28-14. Abilene Wylie held Tobyn Tannehill to just 26 yards passing and blasted Big Spring 49-6. Abilene Cooper beat Lubbock Cooper 52-42 as sophomore RB Devin Johnson rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns. Desmond Jackson passed for 198 yards , rushed for 118 yards and totaled four touchdowns to lead Wichita Falls Rider past Saginaw Boswell 34-31.
