Groom will be playing in their 3rd all-time state championship game. They are 0-2 in championship games with their last appearance being in 1999.

Throckmorton will be playing in their 6th all-time state championship game. They are 3-2 in championship games. They went to the big game 3 years in a row from 2010-2012.

Mike Says: Both of these teams only had 1 big win during the regular season. Their other games were against teams with a combined record of 85-103. Groom lost to #8 1A DI Turkey Valley but had a big win over #4 1A DII Follett (both in the regular season and in the playoffs). Throckmorton got their big win of the season against #7 1A DI May who is playing in the DI Championship game. In the playoffs, Groom got wins over #16 Lefors, #14 Southland, #4 Follett and #28 Loraine. Throckmorton got wins over NR Harrold, #7 Motley County, #6 Guthrie and #3 Calvert. Groom will have to play their best game to win this one. They will have to hold back Throckmorton's high scoring offense. The Tigers fall to 0-3 in championship games while the GREYHOUNDS win their 3rd championship in 4 years 83-50!!

Chris Says: I have to admit I am the furthest thing from a sixman expert. I know a little bit but am much more familiar with 2A through 6A. There, I said it. 🙂 I don't know what to expect from this game but I do know a little bit about Throckmorton. Back in 2012, they became the smallest school ever to win our weekly Fan Champs Award. That week they defeated the Windthorst Trojans 46-15 in a game that featured one half 11 man football and one half sixman. For that reason alone, GREYHOUNDS win 72-66!!
