Mike Says: This is going to be a fun one. I was very impressed with Waskom last year when I went to watch them play Refugio in the semifinals. They will bring a strong running game. Newton will also bring a strong running game that averages 338 yards on the ground per game. Waskom has a higher scoring average and Newton has only a slightly better defensive scoring average. This will be a East Texas Classic. Which do you pick? The team we currently have ranked higher in our polls OR the team that we predicted would win it all in the pre-season. I am going with our pre-season pick and the school with the most history. The EAGLES win it 28-27!!
Chris Says: It is that time of year. The time when we have the inevitable matchups between teams that both deserve a title. Our Alex Borrell sat down with Waskom's Head Coach, Whitney Keeling prior to the start of the season and predicted Waskom would be here. Newton has been coming on stronger as the season goes on but I still think Waskom's schedule was tougher. WILDCATS win 42-35!!
