Houston:
In the heaviest of Heavyweight title fights, Katy won the Region III title, scoring 28 points in the second half and knocking out Manvel 45-17. The Tigers won their sixth regional championships since 2007 by recording eight sacks and having Rodney Anderson (Oklahoma commit) rush for 302 yards. West Orange-Stark rolled to a 21-0 halftime lead with La Grange star La Grange sitting on the bench with a knee injury and the Mustangs rolled to a 42-7 win over the Leopards. Alabama commit Deionte Thompson caught two touchdown passes and Trey Baldwin scored on a pass reception and fumble recovery for WOS. Crosby freshman Craig Williams scored on three long touchdown plays and Crosby knocked out Hutto, despite a 340 yard day from Hippo junior QB Tyler Herrick. Top-ranked in 4A, Navasota spotted Henderson a 14-0 lead, then scored 34 unanswered points to remain unbeaten 34-14. The Rattler defense forced 11 plays of negative yardage for the afternoon. Cypress Ranch advanced to the Semi-finals , scoring the last 31 points of the game to edge Dickinson 31-28. Spring Westfield jumped off to a 24-0 halftime lead and held on to beat rival Spring 24-19.
Central Texas:
Converse Judson advanced with a narrow 34-24 win over San Antonio Reagan. QB Julon Williams passed for 146 yards and rushed for 144, totaling three touchdowns for the Rockets. Sinton beat Yoakum 35-21 as Tyler Handson totaled 218 yards and four scores. Cedar Park eliminated Kerrville Tivy for the third year in a row, rolling to a 31-0 halftime lead and coasting home 45-21. Liberty Hill beat Hill Country rival Burnet 23-15 as Fullback, Jon Shannon ground out 155 yards on 35 carries, but it took a fake field goal, turned touchdown to bring the Panther's home a victory. Quarterback, Jamie Hudson rolled up 520 yards of total offense and threw five touchdown passes to lead Leander Vandegrift to a 40-35 triumph over Austin LBJ. Temple beat Richmond George Ranch 28-14, as the Longhorns lost star QB Timon Nolen to a knee injury in the second quarter. Cibolo Steele rallied from 14 down to beat Northside Brandeis 31-28, with L.G. Williams’ 49 yard touchdown run with 4:48 remaining the clincher.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Aledo rolled, beating Canyon Randall 47-29. Isaiah Mallory rushed for 220 yards and three scores for the Bearcats, while Ryan Newsome hauled in four passes for 166 yards and two scores. Ennis solved Dallas South Oak Cliff ’s 59 point scoring average with clock control, as Taylor Thompson ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns to win their 12th in row after an 0-2 start, beating SOC 35-14. Allen needed another second half rally to gain their 41st consecutive win, but got it on a 26 yard Sawyer Williams field goal to turn back Euless Trinity 30-27. Cedar Hill ground out 578 yards in a 62-42 win over Southlake Carroll. Aca’Cedric Ware rushed for 283 yards and Denvre Daniels scored four touchdowns to offset a 418 yard passing performance by Dragons QB Ryan Agnew. Dallas Skyline beat Klein Oak 38-20 as Daleon Ward rushed for 174 yards and three scores and Kylan Johnson hooked up with Texas Tech commit Carlos Strickland for his 35th and 36th td passes of the yea. Nic Ralston rushed for 214 yards and five touchdowns as Argyle won its 30th consecutive game, edging Texarkana Liberty-Eylau 45=42.
East Texas:
Tyler John Tyler routed McKinney North in an offensive battle, 54-40. Geovari McCollister passed for 361 and rushed for 113 and Jeremy Wilson added 221 yards on the ground, while North’s Ronald Jones finished his year by cracking the 2000 yard mark. Gilmer turned three turnovers into touchdowns, rolling up a 29-6 first quarter lead, and going on to route Atlanta 64-25. Waskom got 205 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Kevin Johnson enroute to a 49-15 win over Gunter. Cobe Carroway rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns and Tenaha edged Iola 35-28. Centerville’s Adrian Gaucin kicked a 33 yard field goal in the final minute to upset Alto 23-20.
West Texas:
Celina beat Sweetwater 41-34 as North Carolina commit, Nathan Elliott passed for 262 yards and four touchdowns. Graham upset Stephenville 35-24, holding TX Tech commit Jarrett Stidham to just 178 total yards. Shallowater edged Brock 22-21 as Cooper Ogle rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Andres Acevedo rushed for 149 yards and four touchdowns to lead Sonora to a 36-35 upset of Cisco. Blanco beat Odem 55-34 as Colton Elrod rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns. Tanner Schafer completed 25/32 passes for 419 yards and four touchdowns to lead Canadian to a 62-14 win over Abernathy. Mason knocked off Refugio 24-20 as Seth Hudson rushed for 77 yards and two scores for the Punchers. Canutillo became the first El Paso area team to reach the state semi-finals with a 17-14 win over Everman.
TAPPS:
Dallas Bishop Dunne won the Division I State Championship , defeating Prestonwood Christian 41-10. Dunne jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead as Micah Simon threw two touchdown passes and rambled 99 yards to paydirt for another. Sophomore Dominic Williams rushed for 269 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead Parish Episcopal to the Division II title, beating Dallas Christian 56-14. TC-Cedar Hill won Division III, forcing seven turnovers and returning two interceptions for touchdowns in a 54-18 win over League City Bay Area Christian.
