Gilmer’s Point-a-Minute Offense Looks Unstoppable

Celina knew what to expect from the point-a-minute offense of Gilmer and chose to start the game with an onside kick. If that offense doesn't touch the ball, they can't score at that pace. The onside did not work and the point-a-minute O was gifted with great field position.
Okay, it is only 0.96 points a minute in the playoffs, but the Buckeyes are clearly the class of 4A Division II football when it comes to scoring. Yes, teams like Katy are scoring even more in the playoffs (64 ppg) but nobody in 4A can match Gilmer's offensive production.
Gilmer led 33-0 at the end of the first quarter and it was just a question of how much the Buckeyes would put up. The final score was 67-14.
Their dismantling of a tough Celina Bobcats team Friday has earned the Buckeyes a sixth trip to the State Championship game:
Gilmer (5) 2-3
1981 3A – Cameron Yoe 26, Gilmer 3
2004 3A Division II – Gilmer 49, Jasper 47
2007 3A Division I – Liberty Hill 38, Gilmer 13
2009 3A Division I – Gilmer 43, Abilene Wylie 26
2012 3A Division II – Navasota 39, Gilmer 3
Winners of only two of their previous five attempts at a ring, Coach Jeff Traylor's team appears to be ready this time around and they face a strong West Orange-Stark team that is getting better each week. This will be the fifth State Championship appearance for WOS, who have not won a title since 1987.
West Orange-Stark (4) 2-2
1986 4A – West Orange-Stark 21, McKinney 9
1987 4A – West Orange-Stark 17, Rockwall 7
1988 4A – Paris 31, West Orange-Stark 13
2000 4A Division II – Ennis 38, West Orange-Stark 24
The two will face off at Jerry's World (AT&T Stadium) at noon next Friday.
