Mart Hires Hoffman to Replace Rusty Nail
The Mart Panthers have hired their offensive coordinator Kevin Hoffman to be their new head coach. Hoffman takes over for Rusty Nail who is leaving to take a new position in the financial services industry.
Coach Nail was the Panthers head coach since 2006 going 105-23 during that time. His teams made the state championship game four (4) times. They won 2A Division II title in 2006 and the 1A Division I title in 2010. This was the only head coaching position for Coach Nail. He was an assistant at Marlin before taking over the Panthers. The Mart Coaching staff won the Coaching Staff of the Year award for the district this year. This will be the first head coaching job for Hoffman.
Coach Hoffman was actually considered and one of the finalists for the head coaching position when Rusty Nail first took over nine years ago. As Nail's Offensive Coordinator, Hoffman not only understands the system... it was his. He is already well-known and loved by the students so the transition should be pretty seamless.
The Mart Panthers bring back a very good selection of players from a team whose only loss was to the eventual state champion - Canadian:
