Class 6A Defensive Player of the Year

Winner: LB Richard Moore (Cedar Hill Texas A&M)

The Senior linebacker recorded 175 total tackles, including 31 tackles-for-loss, 15 sacks and 18 hurries and lead the Longhorns defense that held Katy to 20 points enroute to their 3rd state championship win. This victory was very first Class 6A State Championship.

2. LB Paddy Fisher (Katy)

This linebacker from Katy is only a Junior and was a key player on the Tiger defense that only gave up 155 points in 16 games. Katy finished with a 14-2 record and a trip to their 3rd consecutive state championship game. Paddy Fisher was a big part in that trip with 122 tackles, 22 TFL, 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

3. LB Anthony Wheeler (Dallas Skyline)

The third straight linebacker in the running for D-POY, Wheeler led a unit that only gave up 273 yards total per game. The Senior anchored a defense that led the Raiders to a 14-1 record and a semifinals appearance. Wheeler signed with the University of Texas.

4. DB Niko Small (Arlington Bowie)

Niko Small signed with TCU and they have a good one in this cornerback. He notched 128 total tackles, 6 INTs, 9 PD's and 4 blocked FG's. He was all over the field and making an impact everywhere he went.
