Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year
Winner: LB Andrew Ezzell (Canadian)
Linebacker Andrew Ezzell earns the title of Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding performance in the 2014 season. Ezzell helped his Wildcats take the Class 2A DII State Championship with his 10 tackles in the game. For the season, Ezzell had 186 tackles and 29 tackles for a loss.

2. LB Collin Nail (Mart)
Linebacker Collin Nail was a huge part of the Mart Panther's success in the 2014 season. Nail rose as the leader of the Panthers early on in the season and after going down with a broken heel late had a lot of people suggesting the outcome of the title game would have been different with Nail there at full strength. For the season, he ended with 116 tackle leaving his high school career total at 616.

3. LB Craig Collins (Alto)
Linebacker Craig Collins earns a position as a Defensive Player of the Year Runner-up for the impressive work he did in the 2014 season. Collins stepped-up as the top defender on the Alto Yellowjackets and contributed to the teams achievement of holding seven of their opponents to 15 points or less.

4. DL Hamilton Hull (Bremond)
Defensive Lineman, Hamilton Hull secures a spot as a Defensive Player of the Year Runner-up, for the notable performance he gave in the 2014 season. Hull contributed heavily on the state championship team, the Bremond Tigers, with an impressive 133 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss and nine sacks.
