Jeff Power of Jeff Power TV takes a look at the Central Texas teams to give us a preview of what we can expect in the CENTEX Region of Texas High School Football #txhsfb
The Cedar Park Timberwolves were oh so close to winning a state title last year, but the T-Wolves are picked to win it all in Class 5A Division Two this season according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. Carl Asbeck replaces Joe Willis as Cedar Park's third head coach in five years. In fact Asbeck was the offensive coordinator under both Chris Ross and Willis for the past decade and is up for the challenge.

Baxter Robertson is battling for the starting quarterback position as the Timberwolves get it all started once again with number one Aledo in a top two titanic clash at Baylor's McLane Stadium. It's a great barometer on where the team stands. Cedar Park feels they let one slip away last year against the Bearcats who scored late on a Ryan Newsome touchdown grab to win 21-17.

Cedar Park will be tested in their own district by rivals Vista Ridge and Vandegrift also out of Leander ISD.

"The Lake Travis Cavaliers have won district titles in 10 of the past 11 seasons including five state championships from 2007-2011. They feel they've got what it takes to win the sixth state championship this year."

Another Brewer is under center for the Cavaliers this season. Charlie, who is the younger brother of Michael follows in the footsteps of their dad Robert Brewer who started at QB for the Longhorns in the early 1980s. Charlie Brewer guided Lake Travis to a semifinal appearance in the Adidas State 7on7 state tournament in College Station this summer and says he is ready for the responsibility of being the starting quarterback for the Cavaliers.

The Westlake Chaparrals were the team to eliminate Lake Travis in the 7on7 semis and went on to win the championship of Division One behind quarterback Sam Ehlinger who was also the Chap's 7on7 coach this summer.
