Odessa Adds a Proven Winner

The Odessa Bronchos have hired Danny Servance away from Lubbock Estacado to be their next head coach. Coach Servance was the head coach with Estacado since 2007 and had a coaching record of 54-50-0 and took the team to the playoffs in each of his years as Head Coach. Servance also played on the 1984 Odessa Permian state championship team and played his collegiate ball at Baylor.

Servance replaces Ron King who was the head coach with the Bronchos from 2006-2015 going 42-64-0. King resigned in Novembers as the #2 all-time in coaching wins at Odessa. He was the defensive coordinator at Odessa High in 2004-2005 before taking over as head coach. King’s teams won three games against cross town rival Odessa Permian. That is the most by any Odessa High head coach since the series began in 1959. Permian leads their all-time series 47-10-1 but are only 7-5 against the Bronchos in the last 12 games though.

Other rivalry games include district foes Abilene and Midland. The Bronchos are 50-43 all-time vs. Midland and 35-40-0 all-time vs. Abilene. Odessa had an all-time record of 476-420-25 in 921 games.
