Johnnie Fair, a 1997 graduate of nearby Killeen, is the new head coach of the Killeen Shoemaker Wolves .
Fair first started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Killeen for 4 years before he moved on to become an assistant coach at San Antonio Brandeis for 5 years. Last year, he served as the defensive coordinator at San Antonio Reagan.
Fair will served as the head coach of the football team as well as its athletic coordinator. The position was vacated by Channon Hall. Hall left last February to accept another head coaching position at Mansfield Summit.
The Wolves has reached the playoffs in each of the last three years. Last year was a big success for the Wolves because they were able to get its first bi-district championship when they defeated Garland Sachse.
Fair is now looking to improve the team’s performance from the last season. He believes that the Wolves are capable of hanging with Cibolo Steele which has been a power in the Region. Fair believes that the two teams are not that different and there’s no reason why they can’t put up a good fight with Steele.
With the football team now moving to District 8-6A of Region I, Fair believes that the team will be able to put a compete well.
