We've Been Telling You About Geronimo Navarro All Season!
- We had them ranked #3 in the state in our preseason rankings. (preseason Big 15)
- They have since moved up to #2 with wins over Giddings, Marion, Gonzales & La Grange
- Only West Orange-Stark remains ranked ahead of them (current rankings)
- Next week, they play Refugio #1 in 2A DI
- In his 9 years as Head Coach at Navarro, Les Goad has NEVER had a losing season
Yes, La Grange was playing without Ohio State commit J.K Dobbins, but they are still a solid team top to bottom. These Panthers are scoring over 52 points only giving up 13. This is a gooooood team!
I asked Head Coach Les Goad what makes this team so good and he said, "We have many strengths on this team with the best defense we have ever had. Our biggest concern coming into the season was an inexperienced offensive line with only one returning starter. This group has proved that there is no drop off from past years and must be considered the most improved group."
If there is a team that the Panthers are focused on in the postseason, it has to be the #3 ranked Cuero Gobblers.
Coach Goad added, "...the team that has proven to be the biggest hurdle is Cuero. They are very talented and well coached."
I think I will try to be at their game on October 21st at home against Wimberley as I have many friends in both communities, both teams should be solid playoff teams and it will most likely be for the District 13-4A DII Championship.
