The Bulldogs Back to Texas High School Football State Championship?
In one of my rivalry games (#3 on last week's Five BIG Things) #5 4A DI Carthage took on #4 4A DII Gilmer in one of those great East Texas battles. I have to tell you that Carthage is looking like a team ready to return to title town. I haven't seen them look this good since they reeled off three straight championships (2008-2010.)
Gilmer 3 14 13 7 — 37
Carthage 21 14 14 6 — 55
In this era of wide open passing, it was the ground game that shone for the Bulldogs. Keaontay Ingram ran 24 times for 215 of the 280 total team yards on the ground. But Kason Davis did his part through the air as well going 11 of 25 for 231 yards.
The defense looked great holding a Gilmer team that has been averaging 64 ppg to just 37.
