The Battle for 17-6A Supremacy Begins with Bang
Cy-Fair FCU stadium- On a night when big plays counted big time, Coach Gene Johnson and his Cypress Ranch Mustangs came up with a few more than the Cypress Fairbanks Bobcats, 24-17.
Nothing was bigger than the fake field goal with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Cy Ranch kicker Mason Snell lined up as the holder popped up and found star wide receiver RJ Sneed all alone down the Mustang sideline. He tight roped down the sideline from the 19 yard line and lunged in from 4 yards out tying the ball game, 17-17. This momentum shifter did the trick as Cy Ranch would be the only team to score again.
On the night, Cy Ranch turned in some very solid numbers, among them: Senior Quarterback Blake Nevins (133 yards, 2 TDs) and mighty might runner E. J. Thompson (31-189 yards). In all, Cy-Ranch ran for 344 yards total.
