The Woodlands Highlanders won easily over the Spring Tigers 36-7. The Highlanders won their 300th all-time game with the win. Their all-time record now sits at 300-131-7. With this win, the lead the all-time series over Spring 13-2 with a 3 game winning streak. This series started in 1979. On the season, the Highlanders are now 2-0 and ranked #17. Next week will be huge as they take on the 2nd ranked Katy Tigers in Katy.
The La Marque Cougars beat Pro-Vision Academy 36-0. Pro-Vision is an Open-Enrollment Texas State Charter Middle and High School. The Cougars are now 2-0 on the season and are ranked #15 in Class 3A DI. They play Houston North Forest next week.
Fort Bend Ridge Point got a big 49-0 win over Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated. The Panthers from Ridge Point led 42-0 at half and then cruised the rest of the way. Their star running back B.J. Rainford had only 7 carries but they went for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns. For his career, he now has 413 attempts for 2,354 yards and 34 touchdowns rushing. The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season and are ranked #25. They are at home next week to take on a very good 49th ranked Houston Stratford team.
The 5th ranked team in 5A Manvel Mavericks were able to get a big win over the 9th ranked in 6A Galena Park North Shore Mustangs 26-13. The Mavericks fell behind 13-12 late in the game when North Shore kicked a field goal. They responded with a long scoring pass with 1:54 remaining to get the win.
