Jesuit 3-0 After 0-3 Start
Dallas Postell Stadium- After having one of the toughest non-district schedules in the state Coach Brandon Hickman and the Dallas Jesuit Rangers are hitting their stride. They beat the Dallas Skyline Raiders 53-12 on Friday night.
They lost their first three games. Now they have won their first three District 9-6A games scoring 40 or more points in each of them. Which is humorous, their first 3 games they allowed more than 40 points in each game. Quite a swing.

The tough Ranger run game poured it on all night against the Raiders. They ran tough, blocked tough, and won tough. Senior John Wunderlick had a career night for the Rangers rushing 13 carries for 211 carries and 3 touchdowns. That’s over 16 yards a carry!!! Evan Jackson added 127 yards and one touchdown.
First year Skyline Coach Derick Roberson found some tough sledding falling to 2-4 on the year after Reginald Samples moved on to Duncanville.
The Rangers opened the scoring on their first drive. Israel Ollarzabal kicked a 23 yard field goal, Rangers 3-0. The Rangers forced a Jarvis Williams’punt on the Raiders first drive. 5 plays later the Rangers scored their first touchdown. Senior Jacob Palisch easily ran in on a 3 yard Quarterback keeper 10-0, Jesuit.
Super speedy sophomore Velton Gardner answered back on a 34 yard TD pass to Jarvis Williams, pat blocked. Billy Daly pulled a page from the Texas Longhorns playbook and returned it 90 yards for 2 points, 12-6 rangers.
Early in the second quarter an Evan Jackson 41 yard run made the score 19-6. The play of the game happened form midfield when the Rangers lined up four receivers to their right and Palisch threw a lateral pass to backup Quarterback Parker Towns. Towns had a streaking receiver going deep but he was covered up. So he threw back to Jalisch who had some speedy Raider defensive back bearing down on him. Palisch barreled over one down to the 3 yard line.
Palisch was then intercepted at about the 2 yard line by Eric Green who returned it to the 25 yard line. Total change of possession, a touchdown and 14 point swing. Velton Gardner scored on the very next play. 75 yards to pay dirt. The kick was blocked again, 19-12 Rangers.
Israel Ollarzabal kicked another field goal. This one from 30 out. 22-12 Jesuit. Jacob Palisch hit Connor Jackson for a 9 yard score to close the scoring in the first half, 29-12.
The tough Jesuit defense kept the Raiders from scoring in the 2nd half. Though that was in jeopardy early. Velton Gardner again showed off his speed and had an 84 yard score. It was called back to the 8 for taunting. Then to add insult to injury Gardner was picked off by Billy Daly.
The next Ranger drive was all Wunderlick. He started it up with a 55 yarder down to the Skyline 25 yard line. 4 plays and 2 penalties later Wunderlick took it in from 22 yards, 36-12. He added a 3 yarder and a 42 yard jaunt all in the second half. Ollarzabal added another field goal. Jesuit had 511 total yards to Skyline’s 334. 377 rushing yards.
Coach Hickman said Coach Roberson told him to go get district after the big win last night, “He did, he and I are good friends and we meet once a week, he’s a great guy, a great person, and a class act.”
Jesuit will face J. J. Pearce next week and Skyline will face Richardson Berkner.
