The Woodlands Highlanders (15-0) vs. Austin Lake Travis Cavaliers (14-1)
AT&T Stadium - The Austin Lake Travis Cavaliers jumped out to a big early lead and beat the Highlanders from The Woodlands 41-13 in the Class 6A Division I championship game. This was the Cavaliers 6th state championship in 7 tries. Their last championship was in 2011 in Class 4A Division I. The Woodlands fall to 0-2 in state title games. They also lost in the 2003 Class 5A Division I game.
The Woodlands punted on their first possession while Lake Travis got a scoring pass from quarterback Charlie Brewer to receiver Cade Green. Lake Travis led 7-0 with 8:28 left in the first quarter. The teams traded punts and then Lake Travis went on a 88 yard drive that ended with a score. Brewer threw to receiver Garrett Wilson for a 3 yard touchdown. With 2:15 left in the 1st quarter, Lake Travis now led 14-0. Lake Travis linebacker intercepted a pass on the new possession and returned it to The Woodlands 24. On the next play, Wilson took a pitch who in turn threw it to receiver Maleek Barkley for the score. The 2 point conversion was no good. With 12 seconds left in the first quarter, the Cavaliers led 20-0. The Woodlands had the ball as the first quarter came to an end.
After a Highlander punt, Brewer hit Barkley in stride for a 65 yard touchdown pass. With 9:16 left in the 3rd quarter, Lake Travis now led 27-0. The teams traded punts a few times after that. The Woodlands finally got on the board when receiver Dylan Casey caught a tipped pass from quarterback Eric Schmid from 32 yards out. The extra point was missed and that brought the score to 27-6. Lake Travis then ran out the clock.

The Cavaliers opened the 2nd half with a 78 yard drive that ended with a 19 yard pass from Brewer to receiver Cade Brewer. Lake Travis now led 34-6 with 8:56 left in the 3rd. The teams traded punts and turnovers for the rest of the quarter.
The Woodlands could not convert on a 4th down inside the Lake Travis 10 yard line after they had a long drive to begin the 4th. Lake Travis then drove the length of the field and Barkley scored from 1 yard out. With 3:27 left in the game, the Cavaliers led 41-6. The Woodlands scored with 6 seconds remaining when Schmid hit receiver Connor Patrick for a touchdown. Lake Travis now led 41-13. The next kickoff ran out the clock.
