Fan Feedback: Sealy won its 4 championships in a row (1994-97) when there was only one state champion. Today, it is much easier, much more watered down.

LSG Response: We agree with you but in this day of "everyone gets a trophy," that is the way it is. The "Quad Squad" as they were called went 63-1 during their run of four consecutive state titles.

  • Chris Noble - OL (1997)

Now, each year there are 12 State Champions across the 6 classifications with 4 teams going to the playoffs from each district in Class 2A-6A. Before 1982, only one team per district went to the playoffs. ​

Separate Division I and II Championship were first played in 1990 but only at the 5A level (largest level at that time). Class 4A (2nd largest at the time) began playing the split championships in 1996. Class 3A and 2A started in 1998. Class 1A and 6-Man started in 2006.

Since the split championships started, Celina tied Sealy with 4 consecutive state championships.
