Northside Brandeis Head Coach Jeff Fleener has left the Broncos to take over the Head Coaching position at Mesquite. Fleener led the Broncos the last 2 years to a 14-9 record. Before taking over as Head Coach, he was the assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Allen for 9 years helping win 4 state championships. His father, Marshall, coached at San Antonio Central Catholic and San Antonio Jefferson and was an assistant athletic director for the North East ISD.
Fleener replaces Robbie Robinson at Mesquite who is retiring. He led the Skeeters for the past 9 years to a 40-56 record. Robinson has been part of the only two state championship games in Mesquite history. He was a Defensive Lineman on the 1974 state runner team and was an assistant coach in 2001 when Skeeters won a state championship.
Brandeis will replace Fleener with David Branscom who was the Defensive Coordinator for past 2 years. This will be his first Head Coaching job. Before coming to Brandeis he was an assistant coach at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor for 17 years.
