2016 Saw 17 Performances Added to Single Game Rushing Yards Record Book
Lone Star Gridiron continues to be the gold standard for news and historical information about Texas high school football. The record books grow each year and 2016 saw many players carve their name into those history books.
In a year that saw a major resurgence of the running game, there were seventeen (17) additions to the Texas High School Football Record Book for rushing yards in a single game in 2016. That list now shows 203 players. To make that list now, a player will have to run for an amazing 371 yards.
Boling's Vernon Jackson topped the 2016 additions with his 487 rushing yards against Odem. That put him in 14th place all-time. Daryl Ellis of Somerville is the all time leader with 587 yards back in 1998.
