Lake Travis takes 2017 Texas State 7on7 Division I Championship

This Game Just Keeps Getting Better

The Lake Travis Cavaliers had a couple scares en route to their 2017 Texas State 7on7 Division I Championship. The Cavs needed two late wins against Katy Cinco Ranch and A&M Consolidated to reach the championship game against Waxahachie. This left them battle-tested and ready for the absolute knock-down-drag-out against the Indians.  A four touchdown performance by top recruit Garrett Wilson and some amazing defensive plays by his teammates, lifted the Cavaliers to a dramatic 34-33 win over the Indians to capture the title.

Notes:  Pool play saw Lake Travis, Cypress Ranch, Manvel and St. Pius X as the only only undefeated teams. Unlike the 8-0 Cavaliers, the rest of the undefeated were gone by the second game of the championship bracket.

All Saints was a team on fire throughout their run to the to the quarterfinal round before seemingly running out of pep against Clear Brook.  Clear Brook looked dominant throughout the tournament until they met up with the buzz saw that was Waxahachie.

The fan base for Texas 7 on 7 action appears to be growing again despite the heat index over 100 as throngs of fans cheered their teams throughout. As the leader of these offseason 7 on 7 tournaments, the Texas State 7on7 Association once again put on a tournament that is second to none.
