It Feels So Good to Be Back!
Week One of the 2017 Texas high school football season marked a return that sport we all love so very much. It began with over 200 teams having games canceled because of the effects of Hurricane Harvey but didn't stop "the greatest sport in the greatest state" ™ from kicking off the annual spectacle around the state. While those directly affected dealt with the more important aspects of life, the rest of the state rallied around their often-opponents but always-respected-brothers with fundraisers, moments of silence and hands-on assistance with clean up.
With one week under the belts of most the state, we had a ton of interesting tidbits from week one:
- There were 24 games in our Top 20/10 rankings cancelled due to Harvey
- The UIL responded quickly with a waiver process for athletes displaced by Harvey
