Rattlers Begin District 1-0
The San Marcos Rattlers started district play last night against the Austin Del Valle Cardinals. The Rattlers started off hot with 28 first half points. Prudencio Calderon lead the offense by scoring all four touchdowns. Two of the passing touchdowns went to Julian Perez who had a total of 47 yards on the night receiving. Elijah Aikens lead the receiving core with 78 yards on 7 receptions.
The Rattler Defense played tough all night and shut the Cardinals out in the first half. Corner back Demarcus Hall stopped the Cardinals right before half time with an interception over the top of a Cardinals receiver. The Cardinal offense would come back in the second half and put up 13 second half points to the Rattlers three. The Rattler special teams came up big late after a safety forced the Rattlers to kick off from the 20 yard line. Terry Stennet came up with a huge hit to get the momentum back on the Rattlers side. The Cardinals would get close to the end zone one more time but Demarcus Hall would step in front of another pass to seal the game for the Rattlers 31-15.
Next up for the Ratters is an away conference game at Austin Akins on Friday, October 13 @ 7:30p. Del Valle will host Austin Bowie at home on Friday, October 13 @ 7:30p. to continue their conference play.
