2017 Week 11 Highlights, Milestones and Rivalry Games

Texas High School Football Week 11, 2017

Another week of the 2017 Texas high school football season is complete. Once again we had a ton of interesting tidbits :

    • Nederland 36, Port Neches-Groves 35 -- Mid-County Madness - The Bum Phillips Bowl Nederland is now 38-39-7 all-time vs. Port Neches-Groves 2014 was for the inaugural Bum Phillips trophy Phillips coached at both Nederland and PN-G. It was at PN-G where he coached his son, future NFL head coach Wade Phillips
    • El Campo 42, Bay City 14 -- Oldest rivalry game in TXHSFB history The Bay City-El Campo rivalry is the states longest running 97 years 1920-2017 This is also the series with the state record for continuous games, dating back to 1920. The two schools have met 114 times, El Campo holds a slight 62-43-9 edge. This series started in 1911 with a 0-0 tie, El Campo jumped off to a 13-0-4 advantage before Bay City won for the first time (13-6) in 1924. El Campo now has a 9 year winning streak
    • Odessa Permian 42, Midland Lee 7 -- Odessa Permian now leads this series 37-19-1 all time vs Midland Lee
      Odessa Permian earned their 525th all time win
    • Whitesboro 35, Pottsboro 0 -- Battle of the Boro's
    • Denison 49, Sherman 24 -- The Battle of the Axe Denison 41-70-8 all-time vs. Sherman in the “Battle of the Axe” One of the longest running rivalry in the state 119 games First game was played in 1906. Since 1912, there have only been five years in which the game was not played, three of which were during World War I. 1949 was the first year in which the Axe was awarded to the winner of the game.
    • San Benito 53, Harlingen 0 -- San Benito now leads this series 23-62-5 vs. Harlingen in the “Battle Of The Arroyo”
    • Tyler Lee 34, Tyler 30 -- Tyler Lee now leads this series 30-31-1 all-time vs. Tyler John Tyler in the Rose City Rivalry
    • Pflugerville Hendrickson 38, Pflugerville 6 -- the “Battle of the Ville”
    • San Antonio Harlandale 24, San Antonio McCollum 21 -- Frontier Bowl
    • Hereford 35, Amarillo Caprock 20 -- Hereford is now 25-4 all-time vs. Amarillo Caprock in the “Battle of the Cattle”
    • Carthage 49, Tyler Chapel Hill 20 -- Carthage is now 26-6 vs. Tyler Chapel Hill since 1976
      Carthage earned their 600th all-time win
      Carthage played in their 1,000 all-time game
    • Boyd 29, Paradise 13 -- Boyd is now 22-7-1 all-time vs. Paradise in the “Battle of 114”
    • Midland 31, Odessa 28 -- Midland is now 45-50 all-time vs. Odessa
    • Dallas Highland Park 42, Wylie East 7 -- Dallas Highland Park is now 3-1 all-time vs Wylie East
    • Waco 57, Waco University 0 -- Waco is now 17-1 vs. Waco University since 1998
    • Ennis 46, Corsicana 14 -- Ennis is now 51-17-2 all-time vs. Corsicana
    • China Spring 41, Lampasas 20 -- China Spring played in their 375th all-time game
    • Lubbock Monterey 73, Lubbock 31 -- Lubbock Monterey Head Coach Wayne Hutchinson coached in his 200th all-time game
    • Argyle 63, Burkburnett 3 -- Argyle Head Coach Todd Rodgers coached in his 200th game @ Argyle & all-time
    • Pearsall 30, Carrizo Springs 6 -- Pearsall 39-34-3 all-time vs. Carrizo Springs
    • Falls City 56, Pettus 12 -- Fall City is now 13-3 vs. Pettus since 1994
    • Graham 49, Iowa Park 14 -- Graham is now 15-3 vs. Iowa Park since 1998
    • Monahans 49, Fort Stockton 13 -- Monahans is now 54-11-1 all-time vs. Fort Stockton
    • Munday 49, Quanah 21 -- Munday is now 9-5 vs Quanah Since 1996
    • Fort Bend Marshall 63, Santa Fe 21 -- Fort Bend Marshall played in their 150th all-time game
    • The Woodlands 58, The Woodlands College Park 0 -- The Woodlands Head Coach Mark Schmid won his 125th game @ The Woodlands & All-Time
    • Fort Bend Willowridge 31, Galveston Ball 28 -- Fort Bend Willowridge won their 225th all-time game
    • Victoria East 14, Rosenberg Terry 7 -- Victoria East earned their 50th all-time win
    • Bellville 14, Shepherd 7 -- Bellville won their 575th all-time game
    • Arlington Martin 50, Arlington Lamar 34 -- Arlington Martin is now 13-19-2 all-time vs. Arlington Lamar
    • Arlington 37, Arlington Sam Houston 29 -- Arlington is now 35-13-3 all-time vs. Arlington Sam Houston
    • Garland Rowlett 27, Garland 17 -- Garland Rowlett is now 6-15 vs. Garland since 1996
    • Denton Ryan 56, Wichita Falls Rider 7 -- Denton Ryan is now 11-6 vs Wichita Falls Rider since 1994 including playoff win in 2010
    • Aldine Eisenhower 56, Aldine 0 -- Aldine Eisenhower is now 21-17 vs. Aldine all-time
    • East Chambers 27, Anahuac 10 -- East Chambers is now 21-39-0 all-time vs. Anahuac
    • Cypress Ranch 21, Cypress Woods 17 -- Cypress Ranch Head Coach Gene Johnson won his 125th all-time game
