Rattlers Set to Challenge for District Title
The San Marcos Rattlers took on Austin Anderson for Homecoming Friday night. The Rattlers came out swinging and never looked back. Prudencio Calderon got things started when he lead the Rattlers down the field on the first drive and punched it in. The Anderson Trojans answered with a long kickoff return. The Rattler defense was able to hold the Trojans to a field goal. The score was 7-3 and it looked like it was going to be a game.
The Rattlers had other ideas and never looked back after that. Going into halftime the Rattlers held a 42-3 lead.
After halftime the Trojans did manage to score once bringing the score to 45-10. The Rattlers held off the Trojans the rest of the game and won 65-10.
Prudencio Calderon put in another strong game with 154 yards rushing and 197 yards passing with 5 total touchdowns. Calderon's main target was Julian Perez who had 75 yards receiving and a touchdown. Jamon Johnson put in a great effort as well with 108 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.
The Rattlers have set themselves up with a chance to play Austin Bowie for the district championship this Thursday. Both teams are now 4-0 in district play (see below) and the winner will hoist the trophy.
